c. Appreciating the different objects around us.
II. SUBJECT MATTER
a. Topic: Phases of Matter
b. Skills: Observing, Identifying, Describing
c. Science Concepts: Matter is anything that occupies space and has mass,
Matter has three states/phases: Solid, Liquid and Gas

III. LEARNING ACTIVITIES

TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S ACTIVITY

A. Preliminaries

1. Prayer ( Abegail leads the prayer )

“Before we start, may I call on
Abegail as she led the prayer?”

2. Greetings (student’s will greet the teacher)

Good Morning teacher!
Good Morning Class
(the student’s will pick up some trash in their
3. Classroom Inspection surroundings)
Pick up the pieces of paper
on the floor. Arrange your chair
properly. Yes, Teacher! No one is absent today.
4. Checking of Attendance

Is everybody in now?
B. Engage

1. Drill (student’s will stand up)

“Stand get ready to move. Move like a state
of matter, right through the crew then think
and say what state of matter it is.
Solid, Liquid, Gas . . . . 123 sing dance
2. Review
1. “Last meeting, we have learned The parts of a plant are: roots, stem, leaves,
about the different parts of plants. flowers and fruits.
So, as sort of review, What are the
different parts of a plant?

“Very Good!”

“Now let’s proceed to our new

lesson.
C. Explore

“To start our new lesson, look at the pictures

posted on the board. Can you name them?

Rain Air

Smoke Books

Hamburger Milk

Crown Carrot

Flower

(The student’s will answer and will give a

name of each picture)
(the teacher will ask the students what are
the names of each picture)
“solid, liquid and gas”

“Do you have an ides what is our topic

for today?”
Yes very good! We are going to study
about the phases of matter.
D. Explain

What can you say about matter? Do you

have any idea?

Matter-anything that occupies space and has

weight. Children we have three phases of
matter.

1. Solid- A solid always look the same

and take up the same amount of
space. A solid has a definite shape,
mass and volume.
Can you give examples of solid?
Okay very good!
Anything which have a definite
shape and can be handled or touched
are called solid.

Roger can you give an examples of

solid?

“Very Good!”
(Let’s give Roger a 3 claps and 3
spaggetting pababa)

2. Liquid- A liquid will always take up

the same amount of space and take (Roger, give examples)
the shape of its container. A liquid Ball, bread, fruits, bag, bar soap, vegetable
does not have definite shape but have etc.
a definite mass and volume.
Who can give us examples of liquid?

How about you Edlyn, can you give

examples of liquids? ( Edlyn, give examples)
Water, juice drink, soft drink, alcohol and
“Fantastic!” kerosene gas etc.
(Let’s give Edlyn a 5 stamp and 5
bombs)

Yes, those matter which the shape of

its container are called liquid.
Another examples are milk, soup,
nestle cream and hot coffee are liquid
matter.

3. Gas- A gas does not always weigh

the same or take up the same amount
of space. A gas does not have
definite shape, mass, and volume.
Give examples of gases.

Now, who wants to give an examples

of gas?
(Student’s will give an example)
Says, smoke, water vapor, air
Exactly! You're all very talented! In
this state of matter we can not see or
touch them.

E. Elaborate

1. Generalization
What is matter?
Matter- is anything that occupies space and
What are the three phases of matter? has weight.
The three phases of matter are: solid, liquid
Differentiate each from one another and gas
Solids- have definite shape they occupy space
and have weight/mass
Liquids- have no definite shape, take the
shape of its container but they have definite
mass and volume
Gas- does not definite shape, mass and
volume.
“Outstanding!”
(Give yourselves a twerk and whoa)

2. Application
How can we avoid air pollution?
(We must maintain cleanliness avoid burning
of plastic material and other garbage.)

F. Evaluate

(Teacher will give a quiz.)

Identify the following which are solid, liquid,

or gas and put it into the table.
(the students will answer the quiz)
Solid Liquid Gas
Solid Liquid Gas
Air Smoke Tears Hamburger Rain Hamburger Tears Air
Carrots Flowers Books Milk Crown Carrots Rain smoke
Flowers milk
Books
Crown

G. Assignment
Group the following into solid, liquid, or
gas: carrots, alcohol, egg, nestle cream,
soup, water vapor, water

Solid Liquid Gas
