GreenPo is a start-up company in Sri Lanka, formed by three members from the energy sector using
their funds. They aim to establish a company which could give technical support in developing
renewable energy solutions to residential as well as office complexes. Since they are at a starting
stage, the founder members are looking for suitable Human Resources (HR) to support them in the
technical activities. In the meantime, they need to run a small office complex for the staff and to
maintain all records of the start-up.
The founder members think that they need all-rounders who would be willing to do any work.
Visiting sites, researching for best solutions (analyzing any environmental, social and economic
impacts), communicating with the clients effectively, reporting activities, record keeping, preparing
financial statements, and providing long term assistance to clients, are the main requirements
identified by the founders for the technical support employees. The founder members also need some
supporting staff to run the office in assisting in reception and communicating with clients, getting
client requirements, maintaining records, keeping the premises clean, driving the technical team to the
necessary sites and so on. The founder members are of serious concern in getting people of ‘correct
attitude’ as they refer to for their start-up. They feel that the success of the organization will depend
on the selection of ‘good people’ for the organization.
The founder members think it would be good to start the business with solar solutions since ready-
made technical solutions with transferred technological products are available in the market. But their
main target is to get the Sri Lankan industry to go for biomass energy as a more sustainable solution,
avoiding any long-term damages to the environment. They think the country is yet not prepared for
the solid-waste or toxic waste recycling associated with solar panels.
