Engagement Google Slide: Producers and Consumers

Questions: What is something that you can buy? What is something that you can
make and sell?

Engagement Students will turn and talk to their partner to share answers. Students will share
Assessment their responses to the class.

Exploration I will tell students that they just told me what consumers can buy and what
producers can sell. Students will watch a video on Youtube: Producers and
Consumers for Kids (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTx-co3t71E). We will
then discuss what producers and consumers are. We will also discuss the
important of producers and consumers.

Exploration I will then have them get on Mentimeter and type in two things concumers can
Assessment buy and that producers can make to make a word cloud. We will discuss the
responses.

Explanation Vocabulary: Producers, consumers, advertisement, slogan

Higher-Order Thinking Question: How do producers get consumers to buy their
goods/services? What draws me in, as a consumer, when I purchase a product?
What should I include in my advertisement to make it appealing?
We will examine advertisement posters.

E Description

Explanation Students will write down (on an index card) what draws them in when looking at
Assessment advertisements. We will discuss as a class their responses and apply that to our
own advertisement we will be making.

Elaboration Students will create an advertisement flyer on BeFunky for the product they will
be selling. Producers must be able to know how to advertise their products to
catch the consumers attention. Students will use an 8.5x11 size flyer on
BeFunky. They must create an original good/service. The advertisement must be
appealing. Before beginning, they must consider these questions: Who are my
consumers? Should I include prices and/or discounts/sales? Does it need to be
simply/elegant or colorful/bright? What do I need my consumers to see on the
ad to get them interested? Catch phrase?

Evaluation Students will be graded by a rubric.
