2. Zn + HCI _ ZnCI2 + H2

- STEP 1: The unbalanced Chemical Equation is given

- STEP 2: Make a list
- STEP 3: Identifying the atoms in each element
- STEP 4: Multiplying the number of atoms
- STEP 5: Placing coefficients in front of molecules
- STEP 6: Check the equation
- STEP 7: Balanced Chemical Equation

Explore
1. Balance the individual equation
2. If necessary, Look up the standard enthalpies
3. Flip equations around necessary to cancel out terms on opposite sides
4. Changing the equation around requires a sign change og the H of that individual step
5. Sum up the individual steps

Do This!
Yes, because I can see that the solution and response are correct, it followed the step-by-step
procedure.

B.
1. Leave equation 1 untouched (want CO2 as a product) multiply second equation by 2 (want to
cancel 2S, also want 2SO on product side) flip 3rd equation ( want CS2 as a reactant)
2. C(S) + 0₂(g) H = -393.5 kJ/mol
2S(S) + 2O₂(g) H = -593.6 kJ/mol <--- note multiply by 2 on the ΔH
CS₂(ℓ) --->C(s) ΔH = -87.9 KJ/mol <--- note sign change in the ΔH

3. Add the three revised equations. C and 2S will cancel

4. Add the three enthalpies for the final answer
