1. PURPOSE
The purpose of this method statement is to define and establish a systematic and quality
procedure for different activities required for Fire Alarm & Detection System Installation
KALSELTENG 2 CFSPP (2x100MW.
This process ensures that all works are carried out in a safe manner in accordance with the
contract specifications and approved shop drawings.

2. SCOPE OF WORKS
This procedure will define the method to be used to ensure that Fire Alarm & Detection
System Installation are correct and acceptable and shall conform to the Contract Documents
and Specification.

6. PROCEDURE
6.1 HANDLING & STORAGE
6.1.1 All materials received at site shall be carefully un-loaded using necessary
manpower and equipment under the supervision of Electrical and QA/QC
Department, such that no damage shall be caused to the materials.
6.1.2 All equipment, horn, smoke detector, panel, conduit and accessories received
at site will be inspected, to confirm their compliance with approved material
submittal.
6.1.3 All equipment, horn/strobe, flame detector, module box, terminal box, conduit
and accessories shall be stored in a good laydown or storage area (f l o u r : dry
soil, gravel) refer actual site layout installation refer to detail Installation drawing .
6.1.4 Any discrepancies, damage etc., found will be notified and reported for further
action.
6.1.5 Material found not suitable for the EL I & C Work will be reported to OWNER QC
Department immediately.

6.2 PREPARATION

6.2.1 Ensure that the work area is ready and safe to start the installation of equipment
fire alarm system and conduit cable route way.
6.2.2 Check and ensure that shop drawings and materials ready to use for installation
are latest and approved for construction.
6.2.3 Ensure that the materials and accessories received from site store for the
installation of equipment fire alarm system and accessories are free of rusty

parts and damages.


6.2.4 The correct size and type of equipment fire alarm system and conduit cable route
way & accessories shall be ascertained from the approved shop drawings prior
to installation.

6.3 INSTALLATION
6.3.1 Mark and line out the route of equipment fire alarm system and conduit cable
route way as per approved shop drawings with marking threads.
6.3.2 The route of equipment fire alarm system and conduit cable route way to be
coordinated with other services and shall be confirmed by the OWNER Field
Engineer.

6.3.3 Minimum space from the building structure and other services to be maintained
(200 mm from the nearest point) to facilitate easy handling and maintenance of
equipment fire alarm system.
6.3.4 Mark detail work and installation the per appropriate size complying to the
approved drawing as follows manufacture equipment, installation detail &
drawing for construction.
6.3.5 Supports shall be selected form the following types, to suit the site conditions as
per Approved Drawing:
• Installation detail Equipment
• Installation support equipment.
6.3.6 Fix the supports as per approved shop drawings and manufacturer’s installation
instructions.
6.3.7 Where conduit is installed in roof or exposed to sunlight, factory made cover
shall be fixed to protect the cables from direct sunlight.
6.3.8 Conduit fire alarm installed on roof shall be supported using brackets
6.3.9 All equipment fire alarm service shall be made neatly using manufacturer’s
standard fittings (fish plate and coupler). Only when these are inappropriate,
fabricated installation shall be used subject to the approval of OWNER.
6.3.10 Laying cable for fire alarm and detection must be refer to block diagram, riser
diagram and cable schedule system for fire alarm & detection system document.
6.3.11 All cable shall be providing to service type installation and equipment stand rat
manufacture.

6.3.12 Upon completion of installation of fire alarm in one area, the completed work
shall be presented to the consultant for Inspection and shall be protected by
providing polyethylene sheet cover.
6.3.13 Upon completion of installation refer to block diagram area/building system fire
alarm, detail installation and test plan inspection equipment fire alarm, detector
system area.

7. INSPECTION
Upon completion of the installation, construction engineer shall notify QC engineer for the
required inspection to assure correct erection & installation as per the requirements.
All inspection and testing shall be performed in accordance with the inspection and test plan
and the results shall be documented on the inspection and test report.

8. HSE STATEMENT
In the Fire Alarm and detection Installation works, the following statements shall be
implemented to ensure safe completion of the works.
8.1 Where required, ensure PTW requirement and conditions are satisfied.
8.2 Personnel health, safety and environment protection shall take priority over all
activities.
8.3 Adequate and appropriate PPEs shall be provided for all personnel.
8.4 Illumination/ventilation shall be provided, if required.
8.5 Housekeeping shall be done.
8.6 Suitable access shall be provided to work site.
8.7 If any work activity is unsafe, do not start, whereby it has started already, do not
continue. Compliance with all project HSE procedure
8.8 Compliance with all project HSE procedure.

9. QUALITY PLAN
Competent QA/QC inspectors shall carry out/witness inspection and testing of all installation
work and also conduct a final inspection upon completion of the installation in accordance
with the ITP for Fire Alarm & Detection System Installation

10. DOCUMENTATION
All reports and other documents resulting from the inspection and other checks as applicable
during the process of this installation work shall be prepared, controlled, maintained and
formally issued upon work’ completion.
