DRAINAGE AND VENT PIPING SYSTEMS

• Fix the pipe fittings on the outlets pipes protruding from the slab opening and align to
the plumb of vertical riser.
• Fix the clamps (as per approval} to vertical riser pipes at specified intervals as per
approved drawings or manufacture's recommendations.
• Ensure that the pipes are cut square before they are joined as per manufacture's
recommendation.
• Use cleaning fluid on both surfaces to be joined. This removes all dirt, failure to do
this can result joint failure.
• Apply solvent cement evenly on mating surfaces of both pipes and socket.
• Insert pipe into socket with slight twisting action and full socket depth.
• Surplus cement should be removed with a cloth.
• The joint should be firm enough to handle in 5 minutes.
• The spigot and socket to be joined should be carefully examined for any damage
which would impair the jointing procedure.
• The spigot insertion depth should be measured as the depth from the mouth to the
shoulder of the socket.
• The Spigot and socket should be thoroughly cleaned. All grease, dirt, swarf and other
foreign matter should be removed from the sealing areas.
• The spigot end and the triple seal portion of the sealing ring should be thoroughly
lubricated. The spigot should be lubricated to the full insertion depth and around its
complete circumference. The triple seal should be lubricated around its complete
circumference.
• Immediately after lubrication, the spigot should be brought into contact with the
socket. The spigot pipe and parent joint should be accurately aligned so that the axis
of the pipe is precisely inline
• Adjacent lengths of pipes shall be joined by using the same method.
• Tools and loose materials to be placed safely.
• Floor clean out shall be provided as per the location on drawings, depending upon the
connection, it may be 45-degree Roding eye or straight Roding eye.
• Each floor drain shall be installed with proper water seal, and shall be fitted with
access for cleaning purpose

• Inspection and Pressure Testing

• Pressure testing shall be undertaken in accordance with the Inspection Test Plan.

than 30kPa. Water level must not drop 15 minutes before inspection starts through
completion of inspection. As per the manufacturer recommendations.
• Inspect all joints for leakage.
• 30 min of air test also to be done.
• Testing of all the horizontal completed pipes:
For Soil, Waste Pipe and Vent Pipes
• One end of the Pipe line to be raised by 1.5 Mt and all other ends to be plugged with
testing plugs for every floor.
• Line to be filled with clear water to be raised up by 1.5 mtr. height and leave for 4
hours. If any leak was noticed that relevant fittings pipes to be removed and replaced.
Then the test will be re-conducted as mentioned above for 4 hours for Consultant’s
approvals.
• After the approval of the test all the pipes ends shall be closed/ plugged to avoid any
debris going inside the line.
• Wherever the habitants are present the drainage pipes shall be provided with acoustic
insulation.
• Testing of all the vertical completed pipes:
Main Stack & Sub Stack
• Testing to be done by extending one end of each line to 1.5 mtr. Height and plugging
other end for main stack and sub stack for every floor.
• Clear Water shall be filled in the line and Leak test shall be conducted for 4 hours to
be inspected by Consultant.
• After approval of the consultant remove plug in closed all pipe ends and continue for
the next fix.
• Part by part installation & leak test to be done/witnessed by the Main Contractor and
arrange for Inspection with the Consultant.
