requirements.
• The supervisor and foreman will examine surfaces to receive drainage and vent pipe
works for compliance with installation tolerances and other required conditions, as
described in the installation requirement. Installation will not proceed until
unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.
• Before commencing each activity make sure necessary clearances and coordination’s
are obtained from civil side.
• Checked that the scaffolds are finalized with approved scaffolding tags.
• Transfer the pipes from the stores to the areas which it is to be installed
• Lift tools to the scaffolds using rope
• Move the scaffold into the position and checked that all wheels are locked and
outrigger stabilizer are extended to correct position. Only scaffolds that have been
duly inspected, certified and tagged shall be used
• All routes shall be carefully marked utilizing markers and care shall be taken over to
proceed.
• All the fixing lines shall be marked out on the soffit of the slabs from the bench
marks, marked by the Main Contractor, above finished floor levels in coordination
with other services as per the approved shop drawings/ coordinated drawings
• Install all piping parallel to building wall. Arrange and install to obtain maximum
head room avoiding structural interference.
• Multiple run piping should be installed parallel to each other and spacing should be
maintained to such a distance so as to permit the installation if it is required.
• Make all change in direction and reduction in pipe size using the standard fitting.
The Engineer: The Employer: The Contractor:
• Mark out vertical support threaded rod, channel position from grid lines, marking
provided by the surveyor. Locations will be based on the approved shop drawings
• Check the dimensions to the finished face of the wall and / or column, report any
discrepancy to Arco Concern Engineer
• Secure the first section of vertical support to the soffit as-per the shop drawing detail
• Clean thoroughly the pipes, so that all dust is removed
• Lift the pipes, to the scaffold using lifting machine or chain blocks Fit the bracket
support to the pipe. Note that this operation may be carried at scaffolding level and
the prefabricated assembly lifted into place.
• Check the correct elevation of support brackets from the datum provided by the
surveyor. Do not assume that the floor is at the correct FFL
• Check the tightness of all the bolts
• When sufficient numbers of support brackets are fixed, the pipes can be lifted into the
position and secured to the brackets
• Adjacent length of pipes shall be joined using the above method
• Fittings for the change of direction or elevation shall be selected and installed as-per
the approved shop drawings
• Tools and loose materials to be placed safely
• Pipe work testing shall be undertaken in accordance with ITP
• Move the scaffolding into position and check that all wheels are locked and the
outrigger stabilizers are extended to the correct position.
• Mark out center line of wall brackets position, check the center line is plumb, if using
cast-in channel, check that channel is plumb
• Mark out elevation of wall brackets using datum provided by surveyor. Do not
assume that floor is at correct FFL
• Fit the wall brackets as shown in the approved shop drawing details
• Check tightness of all the bolts
• When sufficient numbers of supports brackets are fixed the pipes may be lifted into
positions and secured to the wall brackets
• Adjacent lengths of pipes shall be joined by using the same method
Page 13 of 17
The Engineer: The Employer: The Contractor:
• Fittings for change of direction or elevation shall be selected and installed as-per the
approved shop drawings
• Tools or loose materials to be placed safely
• Pipe work testing shall be undertaken in accordance with ITP
• Drainage pipes joining methods
• For pipes size 75mm and above, jointing of pipes are carried out by Push-fit joining
method.
• Pipe size 50mm and below are joined together by solvent weld method. The solvent
and glue normal used are Parabond P14.
• Above ground drainage pipes
• All pipe works shall be adequately supported in such a manner as to permit free
movement due to expansion contraction, vibration or other changes in the system.
• All above ground drainage pipes are joined using either Push-fit or solvent weld
jointing method.
• Supporting of pipes shall be arranged as near as possible to joints and changes in
direction. For supporting of pipes, Galvanized steel Split clamps shall be used.
• All vertical pipes (160mm dia. and below) shall be supported using split clamps
screwed to the wall using threaded rods, diameters of which shall be according to the
clamps manufacturer recommendations.
• Where soil and vent pipes are suspended from the underside of the slab, they shall be
held rigid in position. Based on the pipe diameters, Single or double iron supports
shall be used, as required.
• Pipe supports shall be provided at intervals as per Specification Standards.
• Installation shall be started from the base of the stack and worked up. Vertical stacks
shall be adequately supported at the base to stand the total weight of the riser.

this can result joint failure.
• Apply solvent cement evenly on mating surfaces of both pipes and socket.
• Insert pipe into socket with slight twisting action and full socket depth.
• Surplus cement should be removed with a cloth.
• The joint should be firm enough to handle in 5 minutes.
• The spigot and socket to be joined should be carefully examined for any damage
which would impair the jointing procedure.
• The spigot insertion depth should be measured as the depth from the mouth to the
shoulder of the socket.
• The Spigot and socket should be thoroughly cleaned. All grease, dirt, swarf and other
foreign matter should be removed from the sealing areas.
• The spigot end and the triple seal portion of the sealing ring should be thoroughly
lubricated. The spigot should be lubricated to the full insertion depth and around its
complete circumference. The triple seal should be lubricated around its complete
circumference.
• Immediately after lubrication, the spigot should be brought into contact with the
socket. The spigot pipe and parent joint should be accurately aligned so that the axis
of the pipe is precisely inline
• Adjacent lengths of pipes shall be joined by using the same method.
• Tools and loose materials to be placed safely.
• Floor clean out shall be provided as per the location on drawings, depending upon the
connection, it may be 45-degree Roding eye or straight Roding eye.
• Each floor drain shall be installed with proper water seal, and shall be fitted with
access for cleaning purpose
• Pressure testing shall be undertaken in accordance with the Inspection Test Plan.
