According to Isaac M. Morallo, The development of internet technology, social networking on the internet has pushed
the boundaries of everyday communication, teamwork, and networking. Numerous social networking networks and
portals define this boundary. This study was carried out at the Lyceum of the Philippines - Laguna to ascertain the impact
of social networking sites (SNSs) on students' academic achievement. The descriptive correlational method of research
was employed by the researcher to ascertain how SNSs affected academic performance. A Google Docs-created online
survey questionnaire was given to 203 randomly chosen student responders from the six colleges in the Lyceum of the
Philippines - Laguna. According to the study, every student at the Lyceum of the Philippines-Laguna has a Facebook
account, and the majority of them have multiple SNS accounts. The study's findings revealed a statistically significant link
between students' use of SNSs and their academic performance. The student respondents tended to utilize SNSs for
social interaction rather than for academic purposes. The study specifically discovered that the lower the time spent
studying, the higher the time spent on SNSs. As a result, correlation analysis revealed a negative link between the GPA
and the students' number of SNS accounts, frequency of SNS use, ownership date of SNSs, duration of SNS use, and
number of study hours. The findings showed that the GPA increased along with the variables indicated, indicating that
SNSs had helped students achieve higher grades. These connections, however, are not important. The study concluded
that there was no discernible correlation between SNS use and student academic achievement. The usage of SNS alone
cannot be blamed for the grade improvement because it depends on other elements of the teaching-learning process.

According to Jazztine, Dorothy et al, social networking websites, most notably Facebook, rose to such
prominence that they now dominate every aspect of daily life. Numerous people frequently check and browse
Facebook updates, which has various effects on various facets of life. Facebook use among students is very
active, and many incorporate it into their academic lives. The goal of this study is to measure the Facebook
usage of Grade 12 ABM students in order to evaluate how it affects their academic performance. In the study,
a qualitative methodology was employed. It examined the effects of Facebook use on the academic
achievement of Grade 12 Accountancy, Business, and Management students using a descriptive research
methodology. The use of Facebook was found to have an impact on four academic factors, including student
attendance, assignments, quizzes, and written exams. By delivering questionnaires to the intended
respondents, the data were gathered. According to the study's findings, Grade 12 ABM students who use
Facebook excessively struggle academically in the following areas: (1) Attendance - using Facebook causes
students to stay up late, which hinders their ability to arrive at or finish ahead of schedule for class. Their
attendance records suffered as a result of this. (2) Assignments - They spend too much time using Facebook to
complete their assignments. Others, however, use Facebook as a resource for knowledge when working on
their assignments. (3) Quizzes: Students who spend too much time on Facebook find it difficult to study and
prepare for quizzes, which led to poor quiz results. (4) Written Exams - A lack of study and preparedness for
the exams was caused by excessive Facebook use. The results and grades of the students are directly impacted
by this. Parents must keep an eye on and advise Grade 12 ABM students on how to use Facebook, with the
assistance of teachers and school officials. The students can thus accomplish their academic objectives.
Facebook use is entertaining and occasionally helpful, but in terms of academic performance and activities,
students need to be advised on their limits so that it won't prevent them from achieving academic success.
