D. Method
d.1 Production process
The production process in a jewelry shop typically involves several key steps:

Design: The process begins with designing the jewelry. This can be done by in-house designers or
through collaboration with external designers. Computer-aided design (CAD) software is often used to
create detailed design plans.
Sourcing Materials: Once the design is finalized, the necessary materials are sourced. This
includes metals (e.g., gold, silver, platinum), gemstones (e.g., diamonds, rubies, sapphires), and other
components like clasps and chains.
Casting: For metal jewelry, the selected metal is melted and poured into molds to create the basic
shapes of the jewelry pieces.
Stone Setting: Gemstones are carefully set into the metal settings. This can be done using various
techniques, including prong setting, bezel setting, or channel setting.
Assembly: The individual components of the jewelry, such as chains, clasps, and decorative
elements, are assembled together to create the final piece.
Polishing and Finishing: The jewelry is polished to give it a smooth and shiny surface. Different
finishes, such as matte or brushed, can also be applied based on the design.
Quality Control: Each piece is carefully inspected for quality, including checking for defects,
ensuring stones are secure, and verifying measurements.
Hallmarking and Engraving: If required, hallmarking and engraving of logos, brand names, or
personalized messages are added.
Packaging: The finished jewelry is packaged in an attractive and protective manner for display in
the store or for shipping to customers.
Display and Sales: The jewelry is displayed in the shop, and sales staff assist customers in making
their selections. Online sales may also be managed through the shop's website.
Maintenance and Repairs: Jewelry shops often offer services for cleaning, repairing, and resizing
jewelry for their customers.
The specific processes can vary depending on the type of jewelry being produced and the shop's
specialization. Some jewelry shops may also offer custom design services, allowing customers to
collaborate on unique, one-of-a-kind pieces.
