OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY ACT, 85 OF 1993

CONSTRUCTION REGULATION, 2014, REGULATION 23

Duties and Responsibilities

For this position, that you are required to be conversant with all relevant statutory
provisions and regulations of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (85 of 1993) in
the regard to carrying out of construction work. You are required to ensure that
construction vehicles and mobile plant: -
1. are of acceptable design/construction and are maintained in a good
working order.
2. are operated only by authorised persons who have been suitably trained
and certified as competent and who are in possession of a medical
certificate of fitness to operate those construction vehicles and mobile
plant.
3. are inspected daily using a relevant checklist prior to use and the findings
of such inspection are recorded in a register kept in the construction
vehicle or mobile plant.

You shall ensure that, when becoming aware of any health and safety hazards, in
respect of construction vehicles and mobile plant, the necessary precautionary
measures are taken and enforced. Upon identifying shortfall or hazards, which
cannot be successfully dealt with by yourself, the matter must be brought to my
attention.
