Lesson 3 Invasion Games for Physical Fitness: HOPSCOTCH

At the end of this lesson, learners are able to:

 identify the rules on how to play the invasion game(piko); and
 execute the different skills involved in the game Hopscotch

Hopscotch (Piko)
Piko is a Filipino version of Hopscotch and is also
called Bikabix in Visayas. In this game the players play
in a drawn rectangular-shaped box as diagram or
pattern with usually 10 sections but there are also
different patterns that varies depending on the places
they belong. Players toss a small object called
“pamato” inside the outlined spaces on the ground and
then hop or jump through the spaces using one or both
feet without stepping on the lines to retrieve the
pamato. It can be played individually or by teams.
Skills Involved in Playing Piko:
1. Flexibility – in throwing the pamato inside the rectangle the player
needs to bend and move smoothly.
2. Balance – in picking up the pamato the player must stand using one
foot (left or right).
3. Coordination – the player must apply the eye – hand and eye – body
combination.

WEEK 3
Rules in Playing Piko:
1. Players throw the pamato on the last box line. The owner of the nearest Pamato to the arrow line
is the first player, followed by the nearest second player, and so on.
2. The first player throws the Pamato from the rest area and should land inside the diagram or
pattern without going out or hitting the borderline.
3. Inside the diagram, the player hops using one foot or two feet upon landing on the spaces with
symbols.
4. He/she throws the pamato backward, if he/she successfully steps on all rectangles and blocks.
Wherever the Pamato lands is his/her "house". He/She writes his/her name on his/her house
afterwards.
5. The winning player has the most invaded space or house.
6. The player loses his turn when:
