INTRODUCTION:
DRAWING CARTOON CHARACTER

Who is your favorite cartoon character? Is your favorite cartoon


character famous on print, film or television? Cartoon characters appeal to
children, but some have become so timeless that they are still loved by teens,
adults an elders.
Countless of characters have been digitally drawn and there are
a lot more to be created. You, too can make your own cartoon character.

In this lesson you will draw your own cartoon character by utilizing
art skills using new technologies (hardware and software) in cartoon character
making.

OBJECTIVE:

In this lesson you should be able to:


Utilize art skills in using new technologies (hardware and
software) in making your own cartoon character.

VOCABULARY:

Before you start, you need to know the meaning of some


unfamiliar words that you will encounter in this lesson. Are you
READY?

Cartoon Character – a fictional character of a person or animal


based on a real life person.

Graphics tablet and pen – an input device consisting of a flat,


pressure-sensitive pad which the user draws on or points
at with a special stylus, to guide a pointer displayed on
the screen.

Computer –an electronic device for storing and processing data
typically in binary form, according to instructions given to
it in a variable program

PRE TEST:

In this phase, you are going to watch a demonstration

Inkscape. After 5 minutes, show your work.

LEARNING ACTIVITIES:

Cartoon Characters have distinct personality and people easily


remember them. They are shown in their facial expressions, clothes and the
way they move and talk.

Before you create your own, Conceptualize your personality. List them
and start to create your own

DEVELOPMENT TASK SKETCH YOURSELF

Draw with your arm rather than your wrist so that you can
control the consistency and accuracy of your lines and avoid wrist cramps.
Always start with basic lines and and shape and zoom in when you are
working on the details.

Learn to draw yourself:


Step 1: Draw the structure. Draw
the profile line of the face.

Step 2: Add hair. Add the hairline


on the face.

Step 3: Start adding feature. Draw


the eyes.

Step 4: Add more. Add the nose.

Step 5: Refine the features. Draw


the mouth area.

Step 6: Finish by adding the neck


area.

PRACTICE TASK 2 : I’M ALMOST DONE!

Put colors on it. You can add several layers each portion
of your drawing.

Title, save and print your work. You now have your own
cartoon character
