TOPIC: DATA MANAGEMENT

• STATISTICS – it deals with collection, organizing, and analysis of data ; its objective is to make
inferences about the population
• POPULATION – a set of objects (elements) being studied which share a certain property
• SAMPLE – subset of a population
• PARAMETER – numerical value ; a characteristic of a population set
• STATISTIC – numerical summary ; a characteristic of a sample of observations
• FREQUENCY DISTRIBUTION – an organized way of showing the number of times a value occurs
• RELATIVE FREQUENCY – obtained by dividing the frequency to the total number of observations
• CUMULATIVE RELATIVE FREQUENCY – obtained by adding the relative frequency as we go down
