Title SAMPLE TRIAL OF OILED GL COIL TO ALKALI Date: March 2, 2023

I. Objective:
To determine the concentration of alkali tank 1 & 2 needed to removed oil from the oiled GL coil
without affecting its quality.

II. Methodology
A 10cm x 10cm square sample will be cut from the drive side, center, and work side of the oiled
GL coil. The sample will be dipped into a beaker with alkali of different concentration in a certain
amount of time to simulate the production run.
The following procedure will be done:

After evaluation of the samples, the alkali with lower concentration provides good quality for
pre-painting of oiled coils.

IV. Conclusion and Recommendations

Upon initial trial test we therefore concluded that a lower concentration provides better quality
for oiled coils. It is recommend to use a concentration of 13-15 pts for the processing of oiled coils.
