Dear Mr Sinek,

I am writing you to communicate my different points of view in relation to the concerns you raised
about the role of technology in life and relationships in the Inside Quest episode in which you were
interviewed talking about Millennials generation, which I found really interesting, as well as very
current in our society.

I believe that your words in this interview, not only can help people to understand millennials and
the society we live in, but also can help millennials to understand themselves. It is clear that the
Millennial society has a great potential as the rest of the generations, in fact, I think they are more
prepared to succeed in the workplace than many other generations, but according to what you
mentioned in the interview, what this generation mainly lacks is patience, calmness when working,
thinking and relating to other humans. I totally agree with your point of view that the problem of
this generation is not of the millennials, but of the organizations, and the way in which children are
being educated, especially in their teenage years, in addition to the involvement of technology and
social networks in this interconnected and global society. Adolescence is a time of anxiety and
stress, when teenagers need approval from their peers, but in this Millennial society, teenagers,
instead of turning to their friends when they feel overwhelmed or depressed, they turn to alcohol
and social networks, because this gives them temporary relief. In this society mental problems and
illnesses abound remarkably, much more than other types of illnesses, we hear about suicides
every day in the news. I think that social networks and technology are not bad, in fact, they are
necessary and allow us to advance as a society, but the excess of them is harmful, and it is what
mainly harms our generation. The addiction to technology prevents us from developing social
tools, and does not allow us to value what is really important such as love, job fulfillment and joy.
One idea that really stuck in my mind when I watched your interview was that when we forget
about the mobile phone, that is when we really enjoy the world, because ideas appear when our
minds wander, and we innovate. I myself realize this when, for example, I turn off my mobile phone
so I can concentrate and study, and as soon as I forget about Instagram or Twitter messages, that
is when I come up with the best ideas and I am able to make a good job and feel proud of myself.

I am very grateful to have listened to your words and enjoyed your interview, and I kindly ask you
to speak again about this topic and the Millennial generation on future occasions.

Thank you for considering my opinion and for having read this letter.

Kind regards,

Clara Puerto
