The student reflected on their first week of mathematics lessons, which covered set notations and Venn diagrams, the four basic operations on integers and fractions using PEMDAS, solving problems involving real numbers and age problems with fractions, converting units of measurement, and algebra concepts like coefficients, exponents, and variables. The student found converting units of measurement the most difficult and algebra the easiest since they had prior practice in 7th grade.

For Lesson 1, we recalled our previous lessons in Set
Notations. It also included our topic in Venn Diagrams which is quite confusing at times. In this lesson, we learned about union and intersection of sets.
For Lesson 2, we tested our knowledge in performing
the four operations on integers and fractions. It involves the PEMDAS (Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, and Subtraction).
For Lesson 3, it is still related to Lesson 2, but in this
case it’s solving problems involving real numbers. It also involves Age Problems and fractions.
Meanwhile, Lesson 4 is all about conversion of units of
measurements. For me, this is the hardest one yet because it’s hard to convert units especially if you cannot memorize how to convert different units. For example, hectares to kilometers.
Lastly, I find Lesson 5 one of the easiest since I’ve
practiced with Algebra a lot in 7th grade. This lesson mostly involves numerical & literal coefficients, exponents, and variables.
