Innovative and Environment friendly blended cement

Excel
An Innovative and Environment friendly blended cement
from Holcim Philippines that offers enhanced performance
advantages in workability, durability and reliable strength
for better construction outcome. This product is compliant
to the performance requirements of ASTM C595 and PNS
63, under the Type IT-MH classification.

Technical Advantage:
Reliable Concrete Strength Performance - at par with most
blended cement in the market

Features:
Proven track record for more than 20 years.
An eco-friendly cement.
Lower heat and high sulfate resistant cement.
A viable and cost-effective cement for general
construction

Environmental Advantage:
Saves Natural Resources – The supplementary cementi-
tious material used in the production of Excel ECOPlanet Reduced Costs - The improved durability due to lesser permea-
are by products from other industries. Using these SCM’s bility, lower heat and resistance to chemical attack helps cut

and silica.

Reduces Energy Consumption – Decreased energy

consumption during production by using less clinker.

Protects the Environment – at least 30% less CO2 emission,

during production of HEE vs OPC.
Better Workability -Even with less water it is easier to work
with and shape. Moreover, lower water consumed in the
concrete mix also minimizes shrinkage and permeability.

Application:
• General concrete construction
• Low-rise commercial and residential buildings
• Construction in Marine Environment (piers, ports, sea walls)
• Wastewater Treatment Plants
• Mass concreting; dams, mass foundation

A103002 PILE SUPPORTED SLAB

Provide a pile supported floor slab if the conditions in the above paragraph cannot be met

SECTION B. SHELL

This system includes all structural slabs, and decks and supports within basements and above grade. Note
that the structural work will include both horizontal items (slabs, decks, etc.) and vertical structural
components (columns and interior structural walls). Exterior load bearing walls are not included in this
system but in System B2010, Exterior Walls.

B10 SUPERSTRUCTURES
Superstructure work includes structural frames, bearing/shear walls, slab on grade, and roof
construction. Unless otherwise specified in Part 3, superstructures may be designed and constructed
using reinforced concrete, steel reinforced masonry and structural steel or combination of different
materials allowed by applicable codes and standards. No wood shall be used in the construction of
the facility unless specifically identified herein. All design and construction shall comply with
referenced standards.

1. Concrete:

a. Provide ready-mix concrete. All concrete shall have a 28-day minimum compressive strength
of 27.6 MPa (4,000 Psi). Slump shall be between 50 and 100 mm in accordance with ASTM
C143/C143M. Provide joints as required to minimize cracking. All concrete shall be
reinforced. Provide joints as required by applicable ACI standards. Unless otherwise
specified in Part 3 or as indicated by the contracting officer, provide floated concrete finish
for all exposed floor surfaces.

b. Secure anchor bolts and provide sleeves for plumbing and electrical openings in concrete
prior to placement of concrete. Do not cut any reinforcing steel. Coring will not be
allowed.

c. All concrete foundations shall be placed on a relatively firm and smooth foundation prior to
the placement of concrete and reinforcing steel. Compaction shall be at least 95% of
maximum density as determined by ASTM D-1557.

d. Portland Cement shall be ASTM C 150 Type I or II. Water used for mixing shall be potable.
No chlorides or salts shall be added to the concrete mix.

e. Delivery of concrete shall be within 2 hours from when the concrete is loaded into a truck
mixer or agitator. If non-agitating equipment is used, delivery shall be within an hour of the
initial time of loading. At the point of delivery, concrete shall not have a temperature
exceeding 30C.

f. Course aggregate for concrete shall be 20mm (3/4 in) for slabs, walls and columns and 25mm
(1 in) for foundation work and footings. The course aggregate shall consist of crushed stone,
gravel or other approved inert materials with similar characteristics. Round or river rocks or
any mixture thereof are not acceptable. The aggregate shall be clean, durable and free of
deleterious/organic material.
