Assignment # 2:

Write a 7-day routine, focusing on problems you faced and solutions

how you coped with your problems.

Day 1
Monday
Monday marks the beginning of a new week, offering a fresh opportunity to
conquer our goals. It can often be one of the most challenging days for me because
it requires preparation for the week ahead.
My typical Monday morning starts at 5:30 a.m. when I rise and depart for
university by 6:30 a.m. Today was particularly challenging for me as I struggled to
adjust to my new surroundings. Transitioning to this new setting was difficult due to
the pressure to fit in and find genuine friends, which is essential for me in this new
environment. Additionally, deciding on a major and committing to it posed a
challenge, as Computer Science is a demanding field that necessitates constant hard
work and passion.
After attending lectures, I didn't return home until 1 a.m. At that point, I
decided to address the problems I faced on Monday and implement solutions and
strategies to overcome them. I understood that adapting to a new environment takes
time and requires patience, so I gave myself the necessary time and refrained from
rushing the process. I actively participated in university life by joining clubs,
engaging in social gatherings, and getting in touch with classmates, which naturally
facilitated the development of friendships. Moreover, I connected with peers through
social media and other platforms and actively sought ways to connect with fellow
students while surrounding myself with positive influences.
In the process of deciding on a major, I ensured to pursue my passions and
interests. I spoke to academic counselors and explored introductory courses to make
a well-informed choice. I also sought mentorship from academics and experts in my
chosen areas. This marked the end of my Monday.
Day 2
Tuesday
I woke up early at 5:30 A.M., got ready to start my day. The day began with the
anticipation of another rigorous academic day. I set off for campus at 6:45 A.M., and my
schedule was packed from morning till evening with academic commitments. My entire
day was dedicated to my ITP (Introduction to Programming) course. This meant attending
consecutive morning classes and participating in a stimulating lab session that extended
until 3:00 P.M. It was a challenging experience, but I was fully engaged and eager to learn.
The lab sessions provided hands-on experience in programming, the theoretical
information learned in the lectures is repeated. After the lab session concluded, I had a
short break to recharge and gather myself before going to the university library for a study
session with my classmates. This period, from 3:45 P.M. to 5:00 P.M., was invaluable for
us to discuss our upcoming assignments and clarify doubts. As the clock struck 5:00 P.M.,
I began my journey back home, which marked the transition to my next set of challenges.
It was challenging to balance the rigorous workload and assignment due dates. My
lab assignments, which awaited me at home, would be the day's most difficult challenge.
Even though programming is fascinating and interesting, it can also be challenging,
especially for a newbie like me. For a newbie, it was particularly difficult to concentrate
on intricate programming issues. It took patience, concentration, and effort to focus on
difficult programming issues and come up with solutions. I made a decision to overcome
the daily challenge of concentration during study sessions, especially after an exhausting
day of university. Along with these issues, I had trouble focusing, managing my time, and
dealing with the consequences of my irregular sleeping patterns. All these problems made
it all more essential to plan my study sessions and relaxation effectively but my sleep
routine was much disturbed as balancing lab classes, assignment deadlines, and a
seemingly never-ending workload can be quite demanding.
To tackle this, I took short breaks to refresh my mind and regain focus, managing my
time effectively. After taking some relaxation time, I returned to my study session,
determined to continue working on my assignments and gather the necessary data. I worked
diligently to gather the necessary data for my assignments and improve my understanding
of the material. Also I started prioritizing my tasks and proper scheduled tasks. I was able
to work on my homework during the night, though it was surely difficult. Even though it
was an intense day, I found solace in knowing that every challenge I overcame was a step
toward my academic and personal growth. Lights out and a good night's sleep to prepare
for the next day.
Day 3
Wednesday
After a restless night due to a terrible migraine, I woke up at five in the
morning and felt the impact of not getting enough sleep. It was then that I understood
the value of having a regular schedule. I reached at university at 7:40 and started
reviewing the notes from yesterday's ITP class. Afterwards, I took part in a morning
study session with classmates to be ready for the expected calculus test. The group
support is beneficial, despite the obvious stress. Then I took a moment to relax and
clear the mind. Then I left for home in the evening.
After taking rest, I again continuing the battle with calculus, trying different
study methods and seeking clarification from the YouTube tutorials. Calculus was
really challenging for me as the topics included in quiz were tough. I was mentally
exhausted due to yesterday’s hectic routine. Academic stress related to calculus’ quiz
was really disturbing me but constant lack of sleep was distracting my focus.
The struggle to concentrate continues, but adopting time management
techniques helped me a lot in studying. A brief relaxation session, like meditation
and deep breathing exercises, were practiced by me to manage the mental exhaustion
as it’s essential to prioritize self-care to enhance concentration and reduce mental
fatigue. Seeking academic support and Group study with fellows helped to cope with
this problem. There's strength in connecting with peers who are going through
similar academic struggles has been a source of inspiration and mutual support.
Group study sessions provide different perspectives and fresh insights into
challenging topics. Although the lack of concentration is difficult, the desire to catch
up is stronger.
Back to the books for a final review of calculus concepts, even though the
fatigue is substantial. However, I'm keenly aware of the importance of this last effort
before retiring for the night. Getting ready for bed early, understanding that sleep is
crucial for stress management. Lights out, hoping for a restorative night's sleep to
face the challenges of the next day.
Day 4
Thursday
These days, my mornings as a student are everything from routine. The van
timings usually seem to go against me, so I frequently find myself hurrying to be
ready. But on Thursday, I got up late in the morning and missed my van. There was
no other choice but to travel individually. So, I decided to go by myself and it took
a lot of time but somehow, I managed to reach the University. This was the first
problem I faced on Thursday morning and I knew that I would be a tough day for
me.
My daily routine is made more stressful by my ongoing fight with tiredness.
My mornings are filled with mixed emotions because test anxiety has a way of
increasing its grip on me. The next calculus test is one of the main sources of tension
in the morning. The burden of those challenging calculus problems is already upon
me when I awaken. I've also been struggling with a lack of self-confidence, which
has added to my fears. I've been struggling to feel confident in my skills and worth
because of the continual pressure to succeed in my studies. It's a constant struggle to
get those annoying self-doubts out of my head, which seem to creep into everything
I think. Additionally, I also had to attend my course class for practicing
programming in the Evening and it went really tough for me to manage because the
burden of course classes along with my studies was really hard to deal.
But using appropriate techniques, I tackled the fear Quiz by relaxing myself
using different techniques like taking deep breath. I also took guidance from mentors
about the issue of the anxiety and stress in me. I also considered it important
embracing myself the way I am. Besides I decided to practice self-acceptance in my
daily routine and give time to myself and followed proper self-care routine. Another
important thing I implemented in my routine was chatting with friends over a voice
call and catch up on the day. This made me feel better. I prioritize scheduling my
daily tasks which helped me in time management. And all techniques I used for
relaxing myself made me feel better. And after a day full of unpleasant events, I went
for sleep.
Day 5
Friday
I got up at 5:30, got ready and departed for university. I reached at university
at 8:15 a.m. as there was heavy traffic on university road and students like me have
to face problems on regular basis I attended three consecutive lectures. Then I went
to cafeteria for a small break to divert my mind from boredom, I was facing since
morning. The problem I had on Friday was mainly about physics, as there was a
surprise quiz and I couldn’t perform according to my expectations.
The tiredness, I was facing since Monday made me physically and mentally
tired. I had a worst emotional breakdown but I was basically a mixture of different
problems such as academic stress, concerns about future. I felt unsure about the
choice I made that whether I was suitable for this degree or not or whether this
institute is good for me or not. I was uncertain about future perspectives and I
realized that I had to perform good academically to maintain my scholarship and
along with my studies. Meanwhile, I have to develop skills to be independent in
future. I was so fed-up that at one point I realized that, if things keep going like this,
I would be socially isolated because all this was affecting my mental health. But the
point was how to manage this stress and handle the current problems I was facing.
To figure out this situation, I started thinking about different solutions.
Firstly, I consulted with my cousins who are professional developers about the
problem I’m facing, they gave me multiple suggestions about developing skills that
I liked and decided to follow these advices consistently and started working on it.
Meanwhile I decided to write a diary that contains my goals of each month and I
also wrote about how much knowledge, I’ve attained so far. I started communication
with my father, who’s a source of my constant support. By consulting with others, I
got new ideas to manage all the stuff and it worked. I coped up with that challenge
through effective talk and conflict resolution. I decided to make my mental health
my top priority and keep talking to people who can help me to cope with this and
have a positive influence in my life and it worked. And this was a tough day, but I
experienced something new and came up with new strategies for my betterment.
This was the end of Friday.
Day 6
Saturday
I got up at 9:30 and some house chores as it was weekend. I was feeling
unwell due to lack of proper rest and disturbed eating patterns. My personal life
wasn’t balancing and I had unhealthy eating habits. I started eating junk food a lot
in university. All this situation affected my stomach and I was diagnosed with
stomach infection.
I fell seriously ill, and as a consequence, I was admitted to the hospital. The
diagnosis was a severe one, which meant I was in for an extended stay. The doctors
recommended strict bed rest to facilitate my recovery, and this meant I had to
postpone my daily routines and plans temporarily. My hospitalization disrupted not
only my personal schedule but also my social life. I had to reluctantly inform my
friends that I couldn't fulfill the commitments we had made together. It was
disheartening to break these promises, especially when I had been looking forward
to our shared plans. The effect on my social life was profound. I had to cancel all the
weekend outings and activities we had arranged. Instead, I had to reschedule them
for the days ahead. This shift in plans had an effect on my daily routine. My life,
which had been organized before, was now in disarray. However, I understood the
importance of prioritizing my health and knew that sacrificing a short-term
disruption was essential for my long-term well-being.
To cope up with my health problem, I created a healthy diet plan for myself
as it was a crucial step in my journey to better well-being. It meant not only paying
attention to what I ate but also making sure that my body received the necessary
nutrients to support my recovery and overall health. I made conscientious choices,
including incorporating a variety of fruits, vegetables, proteins, and whole grains
into my daily meals. Staying hydrated was another key aspect of this plan. Rest
became an important component of my routine. I understood that adequate sleep was
essential for my body's healing and overall well-being. I prioritized a consistent sleep
schedule. This investment in rest had a profound impact on my physical and mental
health and I had a speedy recovery. This day ended and I fell asleep at 9 p.m.
Day 6
Sunday
The following day, I woke up much later than I usually would, at around
11:00 a.m. My health issues had confined me to my home, and the day's
responsibilities weighed heavily on my shoulders. One of the major challenges of
my situation was that there was no one else at home to help me manage things at that
time. While I had a to-do list that included tackling pending assignments and other
tasks, it didn't take long for me to realize that I had a significant obstacle to overcome
– my addiction to social media apps, particularly Instagram. Despite being aware of
my responsibilities, I was busy scrolling reels of Instagram. Which started as a quick
check of my feed turned into an extended stay in the app. The endless stream of
posts, stories, and notifications proved to be a powerful distraction.
As the hours slipped away unnoticed, I found myself disconnected from the
real world and my responsibilities. The time I had initially intended to dedicate to
my assignments and tasks was gone, leaving me with a lot of unfinished work. The
realization of how precious time had slipped through my fingers served as a wake-
up call. It was a reminder that my addiction to social apps, could hinder my ability
to fulfill my commitments and responsibilities. I had allowed these platforms to
consume my valuable time, diverting my focus and energy away from more
important and meaningful things. It was an alarming situation for me that needed to
be controlled.
This experience underscored the importance of self-discipline and time
management. It was clear that in order for me to take back control of my everyday
responsibilities and tasks, time management skills and minimizing the use of social
media were essential. So I decided to set a proper screen time in my phone, which
would remind me about how much time I spend on my social media. Since then I’m
trying to get rid of this addiction. Luckily I have overcome this issue timely and
managed my time more effectively. Also I have created a TO-DO List that keeps me
consistent about my tasks. By following these steps, I’m feeling change in my
routine and also I’m managing my time properly.
