You are to produce 2000 words (Exclude Reference list) academic report.

Please note, critical discussion with support of a good range of literature (i.e.,
Journal & conference articles) in your report will be highly considered in the
marks allocated to your group.

You must first select a manufacturing company of your choice and follow the below
structure: (Please note that the selected manufacturing company could be a member
of the supply chain you studied in Assignment 1.)

Section 1- Introduction
 Give a general introduction to the selected manufacturing company and its
today’s challenges for a broad audience.
Section 2- Operations performance (see week 8 lecture and tutorial)
 Critically discuss the indicators which are or need to be used to measure the
performance of the company’s operations at societal, strategic, and
operational levels.
Section 3- Operations strategy perspectives (the four perspectives) (see week 9
lecture and tutorial)
 Critically discuss how operations strategy align with market requirements.
 Critically discuss how operations strategy align with operations resources.
Section 4- Failure prevention and recovery (see week 10 lecture and tutorial)
 Identify the potential causes and consequences of failures within
manufacturing operations.
 Suggest actions which need to be taken by the company to prevent the
identified failures.
Section 5- Manufacturing strategy and process design (see week 11 lecture and
tutorial)
 Identify the manufacturing strategy employed by the company and justify its
selection.

 Explain whether manufacturing processes have been designed in line with
the manufacturing strategy of company.

All submissions must conform to the SHU standard of APA 7 referencing


conventions.

Group Formation:

You must work with your allocated group to deliver your assignment task. You must
work together with all members of your group and contribute equally to the task.

Contribution:

Important note: The groups are unchangeable.

All members of the group are expected to contribute equally to the task of analysing
research and preparing the report. You must work together on all aspects of the task.
Whilst group meetings are encouraged to discuss and exchange ideas, it is strongly
advised that you also use the group discussion boards, Google docs or similar online
portal systems to work on this task. This will assist with construction, compilation and
thus contribution and will improve access and communication between group
members.

Drafting Your Work

There is a folder in the assessment tab of the Bb site that will help with drafting your
work. This includes links to referencing, plagiarism and draft Turnitin submission
points. You can submit drafts to the 'Draft Turnitin Submission Point' as many times
as you like to check your work.

Important note: Please DO NOT use other modules Turnitin Submission Point to
check your similarity percentage.

Hand In

Your final group report: Submission must be submitted electronically via both the '
002 Group Report - Submission Point' and the 'Turnitin' submission point marked
'Task 2 Turnitin Submission Point'. These can both be found on the blackboard
module site in the assessment tab. The file should be saved and uploaded by one
member of the group and the name of the file must include:

Tutorial Instructor. Tutorial number. Group number at the beginning of the file
name.

i.e., "Ehsan.6.1 ". Please upload your work as a word document and ensure all
names of group members are included in the report and formatting is correct before
submission.

The deadline is 20th April 2023 by 15:00 pm. You will have 24 hours to submit
after this but without extenuating circumstances, your work will be capped at 50%.

Any element submitted after the 15:00 deadline without prior arrangement or
exceptional circumstances request may result in an award of zero marks for the task.

Support

Your lecturer will be available to discuss your progress and to provide some direction
with your research. This will be provided at class tutorials, by prior arrangement to
meet with the lecturer, or by e-mail response within 3 working days of your request.
