DANCE SPORT TECHNICAL GUIDELINES
JUVENILE & JUNIOR LEVEL

1. COMPETITION INFORMATION
1.1 Competition Date: January 4, 2024/ 1:00 o’clock PM
1.2 Competition Venue: Central Elementary School Covered Court

2. PARTICIPANTS
2.1 School participant shall be composed of 1 pair and a maximum of 3 pairs for Modern
Standard Dances
2.2 School participant shall be composed of 1 pair and a maximum of 3 pairs for Latin
American Dances

3. EVENTS
The Dancesport competition will consist of sixteen (16) events which compose of six (8)
events in Modern Standard Discipline and six (8) events in Latin American Discipline.

 4. COMPETITION RULES DANCESPORT
4.1 Juvenile/Junior Modern Standard Discipline with the following dances: Slow Waltz,
Tango, Quickstep
4.2 Juvenile Latin American Discipline with the following dances; Chachacha, Samba,
Jive
4.3 Junior Latin American Discipline with the following dances; Chachacha, Rumba, Jive

4.4 Choreography and Syllabus

Juvenile/ Elementary Age Group have a closed syllabus
Junior Age Group/ Secondary Level have a closed syllabus

4.5 Lifts
a. Lifts are NOT permitted in any category, level or dance.
b. A lift is any movement during which one member of a couple has both feet off the
floor at the same time with the assistance of the partner.
c. The Chairman of the Board of Adjudicators will DISQUALIFY couples who will
perform lifts during competition.

5. MUSIC (Dance sport Disc Jockey 1-will provide and play the music)
In all rounds of the competition, the music shall be in a minimum of one (1)
minute and 30 seconds to a maximum of two minutes except for JIVE and
QUICKSTEP which is one minute to a maximum of one (1) minute and 30 seconds.

6. COMPETITION ATTIRE (Costuming)

Junior Age attire:
a) Skin tone is not allowed.
b) No decorations in clothing, body or hair.
c) Dress age appropriately
d) Pair shall wear a dance sports costume provided that it will not be so daring (ex.
Plunging neckline, low back, revealing too much of the human body)

7. Competitions shall be composed of the First round and finals.

8. The decision of the board of judges is final.

POSTURE, SHAPE, AND POISE 25 POINTS
TOGETHERNESS, LINE HOLD BALANCE 25 POINTS
