1. Introduction
This new tool shall enlarge the operating window for offshore lifts. Sensors measure the actual
velocity of the boom tip, from this information the maximum SWL (Save Working Load) is computed.
The boom tip velocity is recorded and saved to a file with the extension .smp via the crane controller.
This file can be accessed via SCULI/Lift, and finally evaluated with the CMMS software. A more
detailed description follows below.
As soon as SCULI/Lift has opened, select CF2, as indicated via red circle (1), in the figure below.

Now switch to the folder named “MOTION” within CF2, mark the desired file with the nomenclature
“prefixDateTime.smp”, e.g. “S2011-03-27T144105.smp” and copy it (by clicking the green button
with a white arrow - (2) ) to the right to a directory of your choice. E.g. C:\\workdir\Measurement
Data.

3. The CMMS Software – a GUI
To get a post-analysis of the previous measured data start the CMMS software (placed on the
desktop).

First click the “Load File” button and select the desired file, see red circle in the next figure below (The
default directory is: C:\\workdir\Measurement Data ).
After the file was loaded successfully, computation can be started by clicking the “Compute SWL” button.
The computed and proposed results are then displayed, as shown in the figure below.
