1) find and discuss from the above article what is wrong in the
Philippine agriculture and fisheries modernization act and
what you think is to be done among our farmers and fishermen to improve their well being. - Philippine agriculture during this period has zero chance of improvement unless the current President himself will make a move and stop the corruption happening but it is impossible. - Next issue was the lack of veterinarians, their education on farming and the need to rely on laboratory/scientific confirmation on low agricultural productivity, mismanagement of crops or livestock. - That the Department of Agriculture still insists on letting imports of garlic and onions from China instead of selling our own homegrown vegetables.
2) determine which three of the of the eight characteristics of
good governance are more reflective and critical in the country given what you know and observe of the present state of Philippine development.
- Transparency. The Philippine government lacks this
and needs to do a lot of catching up when it comes to this. A corrupt government like ours will never have a bright future and will always be behind other countries if we keep on electing people who lack transparency and responsibility when it comes to governance. - Responsiveness. Lack of responsiveness from the government, there will be no improvement. It takes a lot of time before an official or even the smallest unit of the government to respond and take action on a concern. In this article, the farmers and the fisherfolks are the ones who are repressed or not being heard of. These two professions in the country which require tedious amounts of hard work get less than the minimum salary of a median worker. - Effectiveness and efficiency. The people behind the law are the ones responsible for the said characteristics and sadly, only few government officials are qualified to do this. The country needs a President and his/her own people who are efficient, effective, and reliable when it comes to decision making, who knows how to manage people and make them follow the law without thinking twice.
