WORKPLACE SAFETY RULES

The following list details general safety rules that workers are to comply with while performing work
activities. It must be understood that this list is not exhaustive and that safety rules may change due to
continual improvement processes and the realisation of safety opportunities:
 First aid and emergency evacuation procedures must be followed.
 All work is to be carried out in accordance with safe work method statements, risk assessments
and workplace health and safety management plan.
 All workers must sign off on the safe work method statements covering their work before
commencing the work activity.
 All workers arriving at the worksite must undergo a site-specific induction before starting work.
 All safety instructions issued, both verbally and written, are to be adhered to (if safe to do so).
Failure to comply with safety instructions may result in disciplinary action or the loss of access
to the worksite.
 Workers are not to undertake any work in which they have not been trained.
 Plant inspection logbooks must be completed as required and made available for inspection upon
request.
 Any licenses or qualifications showing evidence of competency for the operation and use of
plant and equipment must be presented at induction.
 Visitors must report to the office, sign in and off the project, and must be accompanied by
someone that has already been inducted.
 Vehicles must be parked in designated parking areas only.
 All materials delivered are to be placed in designated areas.
 All necessary permits (e.g. hot works, excavation, confined space, etc.) must be completed and
approved before the applicable work activity commences.
 Work areas are to be cleaned up regularly with rubbish placed in allocated bins.
 All amenities are to be left clean and tidy after use.

 Smoking in lunchrooms or outside of designated smoking zones


is not permitted.
 Radios, phones and iPods with earpiece listening devices are not
permitted to be used by workers on site.
 Hazards and incidents must be reported immediately.
 Personal protective equipment must be worn where required.
 Personnel are to ensure that sound manual handling and lifting
methods are adopted.

 Sub-standard or damaged electrical equipment must not be used.
