2. Start and Stop

To start or stop a compressor, the following methods are used.

2-1. Local start and stop (when Local is selected)

If the “START” button is pressed, the compressor will start up. If the “STOP” button is pressed, it will stop.

Note) In the Local mode, the remote start signals and remote stop signals are disregarded.

2-2. Remote start and stop (when Remote is selected)

The remote start signals (momentary normal open contact signals) start a compressor. The remote stop
signals (momentary normal close contact signals) stop it.

Note) When stop instructions turn on by the LOCAL during remote operation, it changes from remote
operation to local operation, and operation is stopped.

For remaining pressure start inhibition or dryer protection, a compressor without a dryer doesn’t accept any
startup operation (by the “START” button or remote start signals) for ※1t2 seconds after stop, a compressor with a
dryer for 1 minute after stop.

Even though any startup operation is done during that time, the “RUNNING” lamp will blink 3 times, which
means that the operation cannot be accepted.
※1 Initial setting (t2) : 60 sec
(t2 : Operation delay time for remaining pressure start inhibition)

3. Change and Indication

The 4-digit LED indicator shows the following items. Switching between these items is done by the
“SELECT” button.
Indicated discharge temperature at the power on.

The power is turn on

3-1. Running mode
It is able to change modes during operation.

There are the following operation modes in SG compressor.

Running mode is changeable by pressing the “CHG/RESET” button for 2 seconds or more during the
running mode indication.

3-1-1. EC mode
If pressure switch is OFF (discharge pressure high), a compressor closes the suction regulating solenoid
valve and goes into unloading operation to open the exhaust solenoid valve.

If it is ON (discharge pressure low), a compressor opens the suction regulating solenoid valve and goes
into loading operation to close the exhaust solenoid valve.

3-1-2. EL mode
In addition to EC mode, a compressor stops the motor (unload stop) if purging operation goes
on for 3 minutes. If pressure switch is ON, it starts up automatically. But for remaining
pressure start inhibition, it does not start up automatically for 60 seconds after unload stop.

For protection of the motor, if a compressor runs for less than 15 minutes and repeats such
operation ten times, it will not stop at least for 15 minutes in the eleventh times.

Note) SG280/390/580/720 unit is not automatically stopped for 10 minutes after an operation start.
SG720/390/1070/1490 unit is not automatically stopped for 15 minutes after an operation start.

[Water removal operation]


The lamp of “RUNNING” comes on in the water removal operation.

In the EL mode with automatic start and stop, if a compressor keeps running in the condition of
low discharge pressure, water removal (drain drying) is needed and it goes into the water
removal operation.

In this mode, a compressor decrease air use volume and keeps running, discharging air at
unload stop.

3-2. Change of Running Hour

When an old controller is replaced into a new one running hour of a new controller can be
set up.

If the “CHG/RESET” button is pressed for 10 seconds or more in running hour indication, it goes
into the running hour change mode and the number at the edge of left side blinks.
In this status, every time the “SELECT” button is pressed, the blinking number will get higher
one by one.
When it comes to the number to be set, it is confirmed by pressing the “CHE/RESET” button and
blinking shifts to the next number.
As mentioned above, the number of each digit is confirmed by the “SELECT” and “CHG/RESET”
buttons one after another.
When all the numbers are confirmed, the indicator returns to running hour indication.

3-3. Remaining time before filling motor grease
(SG1070/1490 only)
Display remaining time before filling motor grease by unit of 10 hours.
If remaining time runs out, “GrUP” brinks. If any item on the 4-digit indicator is
changed into another at “GrUP” blinking without the reset procedure, the item will
return to “GrUP” blinking in 30 minutes automatically.

[Reset operation]
In case of filling motor grease, press the “CHG/RESET” button for 10 seconds or more and reset the
remaining time for initial values 200×10Hr.

3-4. Fault code

Display fault codes. During normal operation, FC00 is displayed.


If any failure occurred, fault code is displayed automatically (FC01-FC07)

When a fault happens, In the normal condition,


a fault code is indicated. FC00 is indicated.

In case of making repairs, press the “CHG/RESET” button for 10 seconds or more and make sure
that the fault code becomes FC00

3-5. Continuous operation at dryer’s fault
It is able to change modes during a stop. (Type with a built-in dryer only)

Setting of whether compressor keeps running or not at dryer fault.


If dCOn is selected, a compressor runs continuously. If dCOF is selected, it will stop.

3-6. Dryer pre-operation


It is able to change modes during a stop. (Type with a built-in dryer only)

Setting of whether dryer preoperation is done or not.If dPOn is set, only a dryer starts
working with the “START” operation, and then a compressor starts up in 3 minutes.
If dPOF is set up, both a dryer and a compressor start up with the “START” operation
in the same time.

3-7. Remote loading selection


It is able to change modes during a stop.

If "ULOn" is set up at the time of remote control, it will be controlled by the remote
loading order.(The discharge pressure switch is invalid.)
If "ULOF" is set up at the time of remote control, it will be controlled by the discharge
pressure switch.(The remote loading order is invalid.)

3-8. Software version

At the time of a discharge temperature display, software version is indicated only while
the”CHG/RESET” button is pressed.

4. Parameter setting mode (P / I / G / Sd)
These parameters shall be used basically in the setting of the factory.

This is the mode to set up PI parameters of fan inverter control, time of filling motor grease, and
star-delta times.

The parameter mode is set by pressing the “CHG/RESET” button in the status of pressing the
“STOP” button while a compressor stops.
Each setting screen is shown every time the “STOP” and “CHG/RESET” buttons are pressed
together, as follows.

In each setting screen, the top digit-number blinks, and the number gets higher one by one by
pressing the” SELECT” button. When it comes to the number to be confirmed, it shifts to the next
digit number by pressing the “CHG/RESET” number. Other numbers are also changeable by the
SELECT” button as mentioned above.

If the “CHG/RESET” button is pressed while the last digit- number is blinking, blinking shifts to
the top digit number.

If all the numbers are changed into the ones to be confirmed, the next setting screen comes out by
pressing both the “STOP” and “CHG/RESET” buttons.
In the last setting screen “Star-delta time,” the screen returns to the normal mode by pressing the
“STOP” and “CHG/RESET” buttons.
Note) If they are changed accidentally, the rotating control of fan may not function normally.

5. Indication of Fault Record
This controller records the fault codes of the 4 faults which have occurred in the past, the
times of occurrences, and running hours.

These recorded in formations about the faults are displayed in the following procedure. If the
“CHG/RESET” button is pressed for 10 seconds or more in the fault code displayed, the fault record
indication mode starts and the latest fault code is displayed. This mode is shown by blinking
indication. After that, every time the “SELECT” button is pressed, the records changes as follows.

If more than one faults happen in the same time, a controller records each fault and its running hours
together.
For example, if FC01 and FC02 happen in the same time in the running hour 100 × 10 h,
the set of FC01 and 100 is recorded as the latest fault data,
the set of FC02 and 100 is recorded as the immediately preceding fault data.

Note) If more than 5 faults happen, the oldest fault data is erased and the latest four fault data is
always stored. It is impossible to erase the fault records.

[Caution]
Press the "CHG/RESET" button during the fault code indication without fail ,
after the cause of the fault is eliminated by repairing.
At this time, make sure that the it becomes FC00 and the fault lamp goes out.
