1. Purpose
The purpose of this SOP is to establish and provide procedure for carrying out pest and
Rodent Control operations.

2. Scope

This procedure is applicable to control of pest and rodents in the ware house, production and
outside of the plant area.in Validity

This SOP is valid only until next revision date and if it bears control seal.

3. Responsibility

It will be the responsibility of the cleaners, the store keeper, the head of property division
and the Coordinator of the General Service are all responsible for the implementation of this
SOP.

4. Material and Equipment

Pest and rodent control plan, Rodent Trap, Approved Pesticide and Rodenticide, Spray pump,
Safety goggle, Nose mask etc.

6. Procedure
6.1. Rodent Control
6.1.1. Use only in house approved rodenticide for rodenticide treatment. At present rodenticide
containing 0.005% W/W Bromodiolene and Zinc Phosphide are approved ( for areas
outside the plant),
6.1.2. Rodent control should be accomplished with the use of mechanical traps with
anticoagulant bait placed inside the trap in small trays/dishes,
6.1.3. .Inside warehouses glue pots and mechanical traps can be used and no open baiting is
permitted.
6.1.4. The mechanical traps should be numbered serially and their latest location should be
indicated on plan map.
6.1.5. The mechanical traps should be inspected and a record should be maintained about
the Observation by the store keeper. Observations should be recorded in ‘Rodent
Control Record’.

6.1.6. If a rodent is caught in a trap , it should be disposed off suitably and the trap
should be cleaned with water thoroughly.
6.1.7. The baits should be changed after thirty days.
6.2. Insect Control ( outside the manufacturing facility)
6.2.1. The area outside the manufacturing facility and warehouse should be sprayed with
insecticide.
6.2.2. Malathion type insecticides should not be used.
6.2.3. Pyrethrum/Lindane/ Cypermethirn type insecticides should be used.
6.2.4. While spraying extreme precaution should be taken and only the area shown in
plan should be sprayed.
6.2.5. The spraying should be recorded in ‘insect control record’
6.2.6. The spraying of insecticides should be done once in a 6 month.
6.3. Insectocutors ( in production and warehouse areas)
6.3.1. The insectocutors should be placed at the entrance of production rooms and
warehouse.
6.3.2. The insectocutors should be cleaned weekly and a record should be maintained.
Cleaning should be done by Engineering department
