INNOVATION
PROPOSAL
• GOAL: The goal is to take an existing or historical media
technology and improve or build on it for a specific social
need.
• ROLE: You are an innovator.
• AUDIENCE: The target audience are media users in the
immediate community.
• SITUATION: In groups of three or five, you need to know
what people look for in a media technology, which will help
them access information or perform their daily tasks in a
more efficient way. In innovating, a long term benefit is
considered.
• PRODUCT/PERFORMANCE AND PURPOSE:You need to
produce an illustration or a simple 3D model of a media
innovation and a one-page write-up about the target
market, the problem it addresses and its features.

REPORTING ON MEDIA HISTORY AND
MEDIA IN HISTORY
• You will be assigned to give a creative report about the
history of particular type. Include in the report a timeline
of media technology inventions and innovations (of the
assigned media type). Include at least two examples of
when the particular media type made an important role in
a historical event (e.g., print was used by Philippine
revolutionaries of 1869; radio was used by Nazis in
propaganda; a Twitter was used in the recent Egyptian
Revolution).

news reporting, stage play, among others.
