Subject: Request for a promotion

Dear Erica,
I would like to thank you for selecting me once more as the "staff of the month" for the fourth (4th) time
this year. I do not take any of the opportunities I have been offered to me for granted. I promise to keep
improving myself for the betterment of the company.
That said, I would like to request a reassessment of my current position in the firm as the program
manager position has opened up since Mr Umor retired last month.
I joined this prestigious organization six years ago. I worked very closely with Mr Umor as a project
manager under his program for the last 3 years. We also worked on the 2 most significant projects in the
company last year: the Pepsi Block Mainland event and the Redbull BMX tournament, which became a
major success. My excellent performance reviews over the years show my proficiency and efficiency as a
team leader while highlighting my success track record, which showcases my abilities.
I genuinely believe that this is the next step to the current growth of my career in this organization. I will
not disappoint you and will fulfil all responsibilities that come with the position if given the opportunity.
I hope to get the chance to speak with you directly over this opportunity in a meeting to discuss this more
comprehensively.
I sincerely look forward to your response.

Warm regards.

Request to Boss for Promotion

Hi Manpreet,

Okay, so the first thing I noticed was that the order and style differed from what I expected using
the AIDA approach. I never considered drafting like this, so that a Thumbs up for me as regards
unique style. I do wanna ask what the dynamics of the relationship were with your boss because
it seemed a bit detached. More importantly, I have heard of cases like these where the only time
staff is ever considered for promotion is when they request it. He had spent 11 years in the
company and only got a promotion because he asked for it, without which he never got.

Hi Manpreet,
I hope you are good, so I just wanted to start with some things I noticed you did that I never actually
considered doing in mine. The first is to set a timeline for the promotion request. The second is to give the
boss options. That way, based on their review, they can promote you to the position they feel you might
best fit. This is definitely a genius tactic, I must say. But I'm curious, though, what role do you think best
suits you when drafting this and why you used the genius tactics you mentioned earlier.
