WHAT IS COMMUNICATION ?

Communication is the sharing of information between two or more people to reach

common understanding. It is a two-way process. It needs a sender and receiver. The
sender’s role is to give information clearly while the receiver’s role is to pay attention to
the sender.

IMPORTANCE OF COMMUNICATION

Communication is the basis of all relationships. Communication helps us in work and daily
life. Without communication, our life would be quite difficult because there is no guidance
given in the form of communication.

TYPES OF COMMUNICATION

i) Verbal communication
ii) Non-Verbal communication
iii) Written communication

Verbal communication is the type of communication that uses words. For non-verbal
communication, it is a type of communication that uses gestures, body language and
expressions. For written communication, it is a type of communication that uses letters or
email to send any information. To ensure that we can convey information through spoken
or written communication, we must apply the 7C’s step of communication. 7c's step
means, clear, concise, concrete, correct, coherent, complete, and courteous.

In communicating, firstly, we must think about the purpose in communicating. Make

sure the messages are clear to the listener. Secondly, we need to be concise. Keep the
message brief and stick to the point. Thirdly, we need to make sure our message is
concrete which is providing all details message focused. Next, in communicating, we must
make sure that our messages are correct. Make sure there are no added stories or use
simple language in message or spelling and grammar error in written messages. Our
communication also needs to be logical or coherent. Make sure all your points are
connected to your messages. Our messages in communication also need to be complete.
By the meaning of complete, you must make sure the audience or listener understands
what’s to be done. Lastly, be courteous. We shall use respectful or polite language in
communication.

Without a proper way of communication, it can cause misunderstandings in

understanding information. An ineffective way of communication will also cause listeners
to be uninterested in the information presented. The listener will also be confused by the
information presented. In communicating as well, we should use appropriate sentences
so as not to offend other people's feelings. In communicating, the sentences we use may
change the emotions of the recipient of the information. Speaking of emotions, as
listeners too, we should understand the information being conveyed correctly. We cannot
think using emotions. We should also always focus while listening to the presentation of

information so that the information presented is clear to us. When getting or listening to
information, we must identify the important information and the main message that we
want to convey in the delivery of the information.

SUMMARY
Through the video that has been watched, what I can summarize here is that we should
learn to use effective methods in communicating. We should improve our speaking or
listening skills so that the communication process becomes more effective.
