ABSTRACT

This industrial training report documents the immersive learning experience gained
during Work Based Learning (WBL) conducted at Atacon Service Enterprise. The training
took place from 13/03/2024 to 13/03/2024 and provided valuable insights into the operations
and practices of a prominent player in the air conditioning industry. The primary aim during
Work-Based Learning (WBL) was to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and
practical application within the context of air conditioning systems and electrical systems.
This report begins with an introduction, outlining the objectives of the training, the scope of
the training, the background of the organization, and the training activities carried out during
the 12 months. The report offers a detailed profile of Atacon Service Enterprise, covering
organizational background, Organization activity, direction of the organization and the main
activities of the products produced. This overview provides a foundation for understanding
the company's contributions to the industry and its commitment to delivering cutting-edge air
conditioning solutions. Throughout the training, various activities and practical projects were
carried out to gain skills in various aspects of the air conditioning system and electrical wiring
work. this company is also a supplier of replacement tools for home air conditioning units and
vehicle air conditioning. Vehicle air conditioning servicing is also carried out at this
company's workshop, offering a comprehensive understanding of the ins and outs involved in
air conditioning operations and electrical work. Throughout the training, diverse hands-on
activities and projects were undertaken to gain proficiency in various aspects of air
conditioning systems electrical wiring work. this company is also a supplier of replacement
tools for home air conditioning units and vehicle air conditioning. Vehicle air conditioning
servicing is also carried out at this company's workshop, offering a comprehensive
understanding of the ins and outs involved in air conditioning operations and electrical work.
The report highlights the technical skills and knowledge acquired during the training,
including expertise in Carry out single and three phase wiring activities, Supply and repair
home and vehicle air conditioners, Supply and repair electrical appliances, machines, and
workshop equipment. The application of theoretical concepts in real-world scenarios is

1 INTRODUCTION

1.1 INTRODUCTION

Work-Based Learning (WBL) is a requirement for all students and a significant part of
the university's bachelor’s programme curriculum. The twelve months of training that the
students underwent have provided them with numerous opportunities to put their knowledge,
abilities, and professional ideals to use in the actual world of work in both the public and
private sectors.

During the industrial training at Atacon Service Enterprise, many new revelations about
the real situation of the work environment were obtained. During the training period, it is the
trainee's responsibility to comply with all the rules set by the employer. This aims to train
students undergoing industrial training to be disciplined in doing every job they do so that
quality work can be produced.

This kind of thing can meet the main goal of industrial training implemented so that
students can improve their professional skills and interpersonal skills to produce a
professional who is suitable to meet the demand of the workforce in the future.

1.2 OBJECTIVE

In addition to enhancing knowledge and job experience, the execution of this industrial
training has many other advantages. Among the goals of industrial training are:

I. Can provide exposure to students directly to the profession as well as applications in


their respective fields.
II. Apply various fields of engineering, technology, and professional management in the
industry.
III. Able to discipline students in a real work environment.
IV. Students can gain experience working in a professional organization.
V. Able to establish and strengthen relationships with professionals outside the campus.
VI. Students can build creativity, technical, interpersonal and communication skills.
VII. Students can put their knowledge into practical work.
VIII. Can improve technical skills in various fields.
IX. Can enable students to manage time efficiently while also being easy to adapt in group
work situations.
X. Expose students to management and supervision in the environment.
XI. Can improve soft skills especially in the field of effective communication.

1.3 SCOPE OF PRACTICE

The scope of training given for students to do throughout the period training is appropriate to
the student's skill level. This is because, for work that is heavy and requires high skills,
students can make observations about the way the work is done for the purpose of the
student's own understanding.

Throughout the training period, the scope of work done is divided into two types, namely:

1 SITE SUPERVISON
I. Communicate with clients and explain technical details in a clear manner.
II. Provide recommendations for maintenance, repairs, or system upgrades.
III. Site visit.
2 TECHNICIAN
I. Diagnose and repair electrical problems and malfunctions in residential,
commercial, or industrial.
II. Perform installation of new air conditioning.
III. Clean, Repair or replace faulty components such as compressors, motors,
capacitors, and thermostats.
3 DOCUMENTATION
I. Create maintenance and service reports for clients.
II. Maintain accurate and organized records of service visits, including tasks
performed, parts replaced, and any recommendations made.

2. ORGANISATIONAL BACKGROUND

2.1 ORGANISATIONAL BACKROUND

Atacon Service Enterprise is a company that has been registered as a business


premises under the business registration act of 1956.This company carries out business
operations related to services, supplying, and repairing Vehicle Air Conditioners (Window
/ Split), Electrical Appliances, Machines, Workshop Equipment, Building Washing, Area
Cleaning and Building Materials.

The business is based at lot 12230, Kg Jaya Jalan Air Putih, 24000 Kemaman,
Terengganu, where it runs its operations. Due to its proximity to Kemaman's city centre,
this company's position is quite strategic.

The company started its operations on September 10, 2003.This service is made into
one of the business areas as it has good potential and can meet the growing needs of the
country as well as the growing needs of customers. Apart from that, this business has a
range of customers consisting of various levels whether from the government sector,
private sector, or individuals. If seen in the long term, the business carried out by this
company can expand widely because the customer's demand from time to time is
increasing.

2.4 ORGANISATION ACTIVITY

The following are some of the tasks performed by Atacon Service Enterprise: -

I. Carry out single and three phase wiring activities.


II. Supply and repair home and vehicle air conditioners
III. Supply and repair electrical appliances, machines, and workshop equipment.
IV. Supply building materials.
V. Carrying out cleaning of the building and cleaning the area.
VI. Supply and install air conditioners.

2.5 DIRECTION OF THE ORGANIZATION

Each company establishment has its own direction. This aims to provide a clear picture
to the company of the main goal to be achieved upon the establishment of the company. If the
established company has no direction. It is very difficult for companies to progress because
they do not have a clear purpose. In addition, that aspect is very important to motivate
everyone in the organization of the company so as to produce a high spirit in doing every job.
Among the directions of Atacon Service Enterprise are:

"To be an organization that is more and able to compete with existing


organizations and wants to further develop the organization by
opening several branches in other states. In addition, this organization
is also trying its best to increase the number of highly skilled
workforce and then trying to do its best to produce quality work to
satisfy the needs and demands of its customers”.

2.6 THE MAIN ACTIVITIES OF THE PRODUCTS PRODUCED

Atacon Service Enterprise, one of the primary activities in this company is the
installation of electrical systems. This can include wiring for residential, commercial, or
industrial buildings, as well as the installation of electrical panels, outlets, switches, and
lighting fixtures. Another activities is, servicing home and office air conditioners as well as
installing new air conditioners. In addition, this company is also a supplier of replacement
tools for home air conditioning units and vehicle air conditioning. Vehicle air conditioning
servicing is also carried out at this company's workshop.

In addition, Atacon Service Enterprise companies often provide maintenance and


repair services to ensure that electrical systems continue to function safely and efficiently.
This includes troubleshooting and fixing electrical issues, replacing damaged components,
and conducting routine inspections. For installing air conditioners and servicing vehicle air
conditioners, this company also performs cleaning works for buildings that require cleaning
services. At the same time, the work of servicing air conditioning units in clinics or offices is
also done according to the contract that has been set.

3 TRAINING ACTIVITIES

3.1 WEEKLY SUMMARY

In undergoing industrial training, students are disclosed with a whole lot of new things.
Apart from practicing what we had learnt in UMP, students also get the chance to experience
it themselves by doing the assignments given to them according to their respective course. By
doing so, students can further increase their confidence upon entering the working world. On
the other hand, students have to obey every rule of the firm and need to be on time. This could
educate the students to be more disciplined and make the students to be familiar with working
hours when they go to work later.
Following is the summary of all the activity carried out during training period weekly:
3.2 Week 1 (13th March – 19th March 2023)

Description

1. Reporting on industrial training, Atacon Service Enterprise at 9.00 am.


2. Briefing with supervisor and client for project service and maintenance TNB Electrical
Substation.
3. Project has been started service and maintenance at PMU Neram, do monitoring at the
TNB site.
4. Do installation and wiring work for air conditioner 1.5 hp 1 unit Model Acson.
5. Go to Kolej Vokasional Rompin to perform a test and check on the air conditioner
mini chiller unit.
6. Learn how to troubleshoot 2 unit of air conditioner ceiling exposed 3 hp at Substation.

3.3 Week 2 (20th March – 27th March 2023)

Description

1. Removing and installing 2.0 hp air conditioner ceiling cassette at Public Bank
Kemaman.
2. Learn about how to to overhaul air conditioner split unit 1.0 hp model Acson.
3. Troubleshoot the wiring of air conditioner and learn how to install the bracket of
outdoor unit.
4. Service 2 unit of air conditioner1.0 hp split unit model Acson and troubleshoot the
wiring and install the lamp.
5. Do the minor service for 2 unit of air conditioner 1.5 hp split unit
6. Learn how to check the leaking gas on air conditioner and topup gas using manifold
gas.
7. Go to Adtec Kemaman for site visit to make quotation for client.
8. Learn how to make pipe cooper connection using flaring tools.

3.4 Week 3 (28th March – 03th April 2023)

Description

1. Troubleshoot and replace the pc board of air conditioner 1.0 hp split unit model
Acson.
2. Do a minor service for air conditioner 1.0 hp model Acson.
3. Installing 1.0 hp split unit air conditioner model Acson and replace socket 13
amp to 15 amp.
4. Topup gas of air conditioner using manifold gas and R410 gas.
5. Do the major service for air conditioner 1.0 hp split unit (overhaul chemical).

6. Change the D.O.L starter for air conditioner ceiling exposed at JKR Kemaman.
7. Do a service normal for portable air conditioner 1.5 hp at AADK Kemaman.
8. Do wiring from air conditioner to supply and learn how to make the flaring to
connect the pipe cooper to air conditioner.

3.5 Week 4 (04th April – 07th April 2023)

Description

1. Installing 1.0 hp air conditioner and make a wiring.


2. Troubleshoot electrical faulty in distribution board (DB) and make a wiring for
socket 13 amp.
3. Troubleshoot air conditioner because unit not working.
- Check the terminal live, neutral and earth
- Check the ampere using clamp meter
- Check the gas level
4. Wiring a switch and socket outlet 15 amp from DB.
5. Connecting the socket outlet to supply (DB).

3.6 Week 5 (11th April – 17th April 2023)

1. Trouble shoot and change the pc board for air Conditioner 1.5 hp model acson.
2. Make new wiring on the outdoor unit and change the capacitor 35 uf.
3. Doing a chemical overhaul work for air conditioner 2.0 hp.
4. Installing 1.0 hp split unit air conditioner model acson.
5. Checking and troubleshoot air conditioner 3.0 hp at JKR Kemaman
- Replace the compressor.
6. Make wiring for switch heater from DB.

Jabatan Imigresen Kemaman.

2. Do a minor service for air conditioner 1.5 hp model Daikin.
3. Troubleshoot for air conditioner 1.0 hp model York (split unit).
4. To replace fan motor capacitor 2.0 uf.

1. Go to Adtec Kemaman to check the air conditioner and make a


quotation for two compressors 10 hp.
2. Do a inspection on the Samsung air conditioner 1.0 hp
3. Do a minor service for air conditioner 1.5 hp Daikin.
4. Test and check the air conditioner.
5. Installing air conditioner ceiling cassette type at Public Bank Kemaman.

6. Replace compressor capacitor for air conditioner 1.0 Hp model acson

2. Do a inspection and find a air conditioning leaked.
3. Top up gas R410A for air conditioner 1.0 hp Model Midea.

1. Replace the fan motor blower for outdoor unit 1.0 hp model Acson.
2. Diagnose a refrigerant system leak on air conditioner 1.5 hp model Panasonic.
3. Perform routine maintenance on the 1.0 hp model Acson air conditioner.
4. Perform a chemical service on 1.5 hp model Sharp air conditioner.
5. Check the 1.5 hp model Acson air conditioner’s gas pressure.
6. Inspect the compressor on the ceiling cassette type air conditioner for damage.

4 Conclusion

My training experience at Atacon Service Enterprise in electrical and air conditioning has
been enriching and rewarding. Throughout WBL, I have had the opportunity to gain practical
insight in the field of electrical, air conditioning and HVAC systems, which can further
improve my academic knowledge and technical skills.

Throughout my training, I was fortunate to work alongside experienced and professional


technicians who shared their expertise and guided me through various aspects of electrical
part troubleshooting, air conditioner installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. This
exposure allowed me to apply classroom theory to real-world scenarios, deepening my
understanding of the intricacies of electrical and air conditioning systems.

During my time at Atacon Service Enterprise, I actively participated in tasks ranging from
routine maintenance of air conditioning units to assisting in complex troubleshooting
procedures. I contribute to tasks such as Diagnose and repair electrical problems and
malfunctions in residential, commercial, or industrial, perform installation of new air
conditioning, clean and repair or replace faulty components such as compressors, motors,
capacitors, and thermostats. This hands-on experience not only improved my technical
competence but also honed my problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

Also, interacting with customers and witnessing their satisfaction when experiencing
better cooling and comfort reaffirms the importance of our work in improving the indoor
environment. Communicating technical concepts in a clear and approachable manner became
a skill I cultivated, strengthening my ability to provide exceptional customer service. This
training also gives exposure to the nature of industry collaboration. I work closely with a
diverse team of professionals, including technicians, engineers and support staff. This
experience emphasizes the importance of teamwork, effective communication, and
coordination in delivering successful results.

Finally, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the entire Atacon Service
Enterprise team for their unwavering guidance, mentorship and support throughout my
training. These experiences have undoubtedly shaped my professional growth, and I look
forward to building on this foundation as I embark on the next phase of my career.
