Teacher’s Activities Students’ Activity

A. Preliminary Activities

1. Prayer:
- Please stand and kindly lead the prayer Ana.

2. Greetings:

- Good morning class!

- Okay! Please be seated. - Good morning Sir King!

3. Checking of Attendance:
- Secretary Lunas who are absent this morning?

- Thank you and very good there is no absent.

- None sir.
4. Checking of assignment:

- Kindy get your assignment and exchange with your

seatmate.

5. Drill:

- Let us check your assignment, who wants to answer?

- Okay please write your answer on the board.

- Very good!
- (Students raised their hand)
- Who got perfect?

- Very good! Majority of you got perfect score.

- Now, at a count of 10 pass your paper into the center - (Students raised their hand)
aisle and pass it forward.

- Are all papers in?

6. Review:

- Based on your assignment, who can recall what was - Yes sir!
our topic last meeting?

- Very good! It is all about Experimental Probability. - Our topic last meeting sir is all
What is experimental Probability? about experimental probability

- Experimental Probability – is
a probability that is determined
on the basis of the results of an
-That’s right! You already mastered the topic very experiment repeated many times.
well.

7. Motivation:

- Class! I have here 10 candies, 4 of the candies are

blue and the remaining 6 are yellow. I will put all the
candies inside the box. Then, how would we know the
probability in getting yellow or blue candy?

- by the use of experimental

probability sir, we can solve the
- Very good! You have a great idea. probability of an event.

- How about getting those events without doing an

experiment? It should be possible solving a probability of
an event without doing an experiment?

- Anyone from the class have an idea, how?

- That’s correct by the help of Formula we can easily -Maybe sir.

get the probability of an event.
- By the use of formula sir.
- And this morning I will teach you, how to solve
probability of an event in easy way without doing an
experiment. So please listen attentively.

B. Developmental Activities

1. Presentation of topic:
- Our topic for this morning is all about
THEORETICAL PROBABILITY

- But before we proceed let us know first those words

that we might encounter along our discussion.

Words to learn:

Favorable outcome – it is an outcome that you are

looking for or an event.

Possible outcome – it is the total possible result or it

would be your total sample space.

2. Discussion:

- Now, let us define what is theoretical probability.

- Based, on your own idea what is theoretical

probability?

- Very good you have a point because that formula it

could be a theory.

- Now, theoretical probability also, - It is something about using

formula.
Theoretical Probability – it is used to estimate
the probability of an event when all the outcomes
are equal.

- Therefore, by the use of theoretical probability we

can predict the outcome even if we don’t do an
experiment.

-So, this is the theoretical formula in solving the

probability of an events.

Formula:

total number of favorable outcome

P(E) = total number of possible outcome

Example 1: What is the probability in getting blue

candy?

- In this example we will based on the 10 candies I

presented a while ago.

- Now, to solve this problem easily we need to follow

the step properly:

Step 1: We need to know first the total number of

favorable outcomes.

- So, as what we read a while ago on our words to learn

that a favorable outcome is an outcome that you are
looking for.

- Based on the problem what is our favorable outcome?

- Very good! Our favorable outcome is the blue candy.

- Now, how many blue candies inside the box?

- The blue candy sir is our
favorable outcome.
- So, the total number of our favorable outcome is 4.

Step 2: Know the total number of possible outcomes.

- Possible outcome is the total sample space.

- There are 4 blue candies sir.
- How many candies inside the box?

- Very good! Therefore, our total possible outcome is

10.

Step 3: Substitute the value and reduce it into lowest

term.

4 2 - There are 10 candies inside the

P(E) = =
10 5 box sir.

- So, there are 2/5 or 0.40 probabilities in getting blue

candy inside the box.

- I have here another example. But I need a volunteer to

answer the problem.

Example 2: What is the probability in getting yellow

candy?

- Who will try to answer?

- Okay, John please write your answer on the board

(Students raised their hand)

Solution:

- Favorable outcome =6
- total possible outcome = 10

P(E) =
- Very good! Let us give a WOW clap to John. total number of favorable outcome
total number of possible outcome
- Now, let us try another example. I have here a color
wheel. 6 3
P(E) = =
10 5

Therefore, there are 3/5 or 0.60

possibilities in getting yellow candy in
the box.
Example 3: What is the probability in spinning yellow
color?

Solution:

Favorable outcome = 1
Possible outcome= 5

total number of favorable outcome

P(E) =
total number of possible outcome

1
P(E) =
5

- Therefore, there are 1/5 or 0.20 chances in having

yellow color upon spinning this color wheel.

- Also, we can conclude based on the definition of

theoretical probability that using this method the
outcomes are equally distributed in every situation.

- Like when you add all the outcomes it will result a

total of 1 or 100 percent.

- Let us try this.

- 2/5 or 40% for the blue candies and 3/5 or 60% of

the yellow candies. A total of 1 and 100 percent
respectively.

3. Application

- Let us have an activity, I will divide you into three

groups.

- But before we start our activity let me discuss first

the instruction. Your points would be based on the
rubrics.

- This rubric would be your guide in doing your tasks

and please take note that who will be the first to post
their work on the board would have an additional
point.

5 points – 1st
4 points – 2nd
3 points – 3rd

- I will provide one question for each group.

You need to solve the problem using theoretical
probability then, write your answer in the manila
paper provided.

- When you are done please post your work on the

board and choose one representative to explain your
work.

- Here is the question for the group 1, group 2, and

group 3

- I will give you 5 minutes to do the activity and your

5 minutes start now!

- Time is up!

- Now, let us start for the group 1.

- Very good! Let us give 3 claps and say amazing for

the group 1.

- Group 2 you may have the floor.

- Great job for group 2, let us give 3 claps and say

brilliant.

- Let proceed for the group 3. Please present your

work. (Students do as told)
- Very good! Now let us give 3 claps and say nice.

- Do you have any question regarding to our lesson

today?

4. Generalization:

- Since you don’t have a question I will be the one to

ask question.

- Again, what is Theoretical Probability?

- In what situation you can apply or use probability?

- It is helpful to you? in what way?

- Very well said. Let us give a Brilliant clap to Ana.

- Yes, also probability exist in real life situation and it Theoretical Probability – it is

that we can prepared ahead of time if there is a
strong storm coming.

- I am right?
- Yes, sir it is very helpful to us
- Now Kindly get ½ crosswise and answer the because learning this kind of
following question. topic gives as more chances to
think critically especially making
decision in life.

- Yes sir!

IV. Evaluation:

drawn?
