MODULE ONE
RODE TO THE RIGHT CHOICE
November 10, 2017

The Grade 11 advisers of Marawi High School conducted a career guidance program for the
school year 2017 – 2018 as implemented by DepEd Memorandum 165, s.2017.
Foremost, the teachers oriented the students on the said program and allotted an hour for their
advisory time for the said program.
At first the students are not that excited because they thought it is another subject for them to pass
for this semester. But as the teachers go on with giving activities and discussing on the first module, the
students were enjoying the activities such as the “Designing a Costume.” On the activity they are able to
found out that there are plenty of opportunities that they can have after graduating from senior high
school. They were able to identify the factors that affected their decision in choosing their strand and how
these factors contribute to their life’s decisions.
As a teacher we are able to discover that most of the students considered family and social factors
in choosing their strand. That it is not their first choice. It was influenced by their parents and peers.
Through the first module the teachers are now aware that the students’ class performances greatly
affect their choice in choosing the strand. Some of them are pressured from their parents and some are
through their peers, they are not able to perform well in the class because their skills and interest does not
fit in their chosen enrolled strand.
