Digraphs - two consonant letters put together which produce one

sound.

Initial Consonant Digraph is a group of two consonant letters

at the beginning of the word.

Example:
Initial Word Examples
Digraphs

sh shadow, she, shovel, shop

ch charge, chariot, church, chef,
chick, cheek, check

Final Consonant Digraph is a group of two consonant letters at

the end of the word.

Example:
Initial Word Examples
Digraphs

sh rash, cash, hush, mash,

trash, fish
ch beach, bunch, match, ostrich

Words with consonant blends and digraphs, we need to be

acquainted with letter names and their sounds.

When the /s/ sound combines with the /h/ sound. They create the
unique sound of /sh/. The /ch/ sound, as in chip, is produced by touching
the tip of the tongue to the roof of the mouth to block the passage of air very
briefly before releasing it through the mouth. It is similar to the sound of a
sneeze.
One way is to shape from /t/ + SH. Practice saying them separately /t/
pause SH and increase speed until you are saying those two sounds as one
which result in CH. Another shaping trick is to work from /t/+/s/+/y/ { its
you}.

Digraphs are one of the letter combinations taught after students

master single letter sounds. Consonant digraphs are two or more letters.
