How to be a great team member and effectiveness of Team building

Title: Teamwork produces better results


Let’s begin the game imagine the scenario in a closed environment like
a workshop where people of different schools under the same
management meet for the first time. After formal greetings every
person writes a positive adjective word in a piece of paper and attaches
the paper to the back of the person in front of them. The team leader
initiates the game to call out the adjective along with the person’s
name who is holding it on their back. By the end of the game everyone
is introduced with a positive note. This was a team building activity that
impressed me and I was able coordinate, collaborate and actively
mingle with all the members who participated in the workshop through
out the academic year every week for long sessions. Let’s check these
five qualities and relate it to real life incidents: Initiate to modify,
wisdom to propose, convince followers, confront injustice and stay
committed. If you are able to identify incidents close to these qualities,
you are a born leader.
Are leaders born? Can leaders be created? As a teacher I would say yes
because I believe in inculcating good qualities in young minds. Team
building requires an efficient team leader. Team building activities bring
employees closer and work environment is pleasant, fresh the entire
day. Team building is an important investment for the organization as it
builds trust, mitigates conflict, encourages communication and
increases collaboration. Let’s look through aspects that make a
potential leader

Good team effort can motivate everyone to stay longer periods in an


organization. For development in personal and professional skills, now
to implement the plan use the following team building activities to
utilize the team properly.
 Mentoring would be the important process for implementing the
plan and meet the organizational and personal objectives. To be a
successful mentor the team leader can take assistance of experts
from different fields to execute the activities as per the plan. This
kind of process will help to gain the knowledge about proper time
allocation, advice for using the resources and tools that would be
beneficial for crafting improvement.
 Training is an important factor for implementation of plan.
Training will also be an effective process that will help to perform
the tasks as per the plan and provide the direction for making
changes according to new trends. Moreover, training would help
to work hard and manage the activities according to level of
learning and stay energetic. By using the training process, focus
on the communication, leading, planning and team working.
 Prioritization is an effective strategy that can be used for doing
the first thing first and plan the activities more convincing
manners. The team leader would define the role and
responsibilities of individual according to skills and expertise. The
prioritization of task would be done according to needs to save
time and helps to meet the deadline.
 Scheduling: Proper scheduling of tasks and operations at
workplace will help to assign roles and responsibilities to support
and maintain positive working environment.
 Listening is an essential step in team building. Clearly discuss the
strategies and policies with the team and listen to suggestions
before implementation.
 Divide work, Plan and allocate resources. Work in small groups.
Take active participation in team meetings and have good
interaction with team members.
 Willingness to participate in the team should be created through
various activities that involve the team members that make them
feel as an integral part of project.

Can everyone be a leader? Teams are formed when individuals with a


similar interest, need and even attitude work together to achieve a
common goal. Conflicts must be avoided among the team members so
that they are able to concentrate on their work and do not lode their
focus and concentration. Every individual is a good team player and
requires skills to successfully work in a team. A team member must
have certain qualities in him so that he is not only able to work in a
team but also deliver results and grow both professionally and
personally. At the end, report has developed the plan for improvement
in the identified skills to gain the higher position.
 Communication skills (verbal and written)-A good communication
should be done after sensible thought, choosing careful words
and expressing clearly in a convincing manner.
 Commercial awareness- Complete understanding of the
organizational structure and organizational goal would help in
merging into the team
 Attitude towards work -A positive outlook towards work
environment and commitment gives a boosting effect to the team
 Lifelong learning – In the changing scenario its necessary to be
updated with latest developments in the field of work.
 Teamwork - As a team member analysis of own skills and
competencies against the organizational and manger level
standard is an important factor
 Problem solving- The team requires quick solutions when problem
escalates. Each team member should have thorough knowledge
about the project to solve the problem
 Initiative-Each team members should be able to initiate and drive
through in the absence of another. Be clear about roles and
responsibilities of each team member.
 Self-motivation – Motivation factor is essential to keep the spirits
high towards the goal. Accept challenges with a smiling face.
 Adaptability – Adapting to change is a sign of open-minded
approach towards the team and everyone should have zeal to
work together to achieve the goal
 Stress management- During time of crisis managing stress and
handling stressful situations is an integral part of teamwork.
 Creativity- Innovative ideas can turn the course of action towards
effective results. Everyone works hard but the smart one succeeds
at the end.
 Interpersonal sensitivity – Understanding from other’s perspective
and listening to other’s idea boosts the confidence as a team.
 Technology/IT skills – Be proactive to learn new skills and work on
the skills with proper monitoring that will improve the
effectiveness of plan.

To be an efficient team don’t aspire to be the best in a team aspire to


be the best for the team. For an individual team must come first while
walking together towards the goal. Productivity increases when each
team member feels a part of a team. It is not the strongest of the
species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one
that is the most adaptable to change.
