Unit 3 Review
Angles
Obtuse Angle An angle whose measure is greater than 90 degrees but less than 180 degrees

Right Angle An angle whose measure is 90 degrees

Acute Angle An angle whose measure is less than 90 degrees

Supplementary Two angles whose sum is equal to a straight angle or 180 degrees

Complementary Two angles whose sum, is equal to 90 degrees

Angles
Congruent Angles Angles that have equal lengths

Adjacent Coplanar angles that have a common side, common vertex, and no common interior points

Angle Bisector A line, ray, or segment that cuts an angle into two equal angles

Linear Pair A pair of adjacent angles whose non-common sides form a line

Vertical Angles A pair of angles whose sides form two pairs of opposite rays
Lines and Segments
Congruent Segments Segments that have equal measure

Perpendicular Lines Lines that intersect and form right angles

Opposite Rays Two rays that share the same endpoint and form a line

Segment Part of a line that contains two endpoints and all points between them

Coplanar Points that lie in the same plane

Lines and Segments

Part of a line that consists of one endpoint and all point of the line on one side of the
Ray
endpoint

Perpendicular Bisector This is a line ray or segment that is perpendicular to the segment at its midpoint

Segment Bisector A line, ray, or segment that which cuts another line segment into equal parts

Collinear Points that lie on the same line

Reasoning and Statements
Postulate A statement in geometry that is accepted as fact without proof

Conditional A statement that is written in in-then form

Theorem A statement in geometry that is accepted as fact only after it have been proven

This is a type of reasoning that reaches a conclusion based on a pattern of specific

Inductive Reasoning
examples or past events to reach a conclusion.

Deductive Reasoning This is a process of reasoning logically from given facts to reach a conclusion

Hypothesis The part of a conditional statement that follows the ‘if’

Conclusion The part of a conditional statement that follows the ‘then’

Other
A drawing that shows a corner view of a 3-D figure that allows you to see the top, front,
Isometric
and side of an object in the same drawing

Midpoint A point on a line segment that divides the segment in to equal lengths

Straight An angle whose measure is 180 degrees
