Safety precautions

To minimize the risk of personal injury or property damage it is important that the following safe
servicing practices be observed.

1) Read carefully the instruction booklet supplied with the Washing machine from time to time. Be
sure you are operating Washing machine properly.

2) Know the location of customer's Washing machine circuit breakers or fuses.

3) Before servicing the Washing machine, UNPLUG the power cord before performing any repairs or
removing any panel. Note Except for electrical & partly mechanical performance testing, none of
repairs require electrical power.

4) Be careful when handling Washing machine rear panel and access panel, parts or any components,
which may, have sharp edges. Avoid placing your hand into any area of the Washing machine,
which can’t first visually be inspected for sharp edges.

5) Always use the correct tools for a job and make sure tools are in good condition. Worn, faulty and
misused tools can cause accidents.

6) Never interfere with or bypass the operation of any switch, component or feature of the Washing
machine.

7) Use only replacement parts of the same size and capacity as per the list of parts. If you have any
questions, contact our branch.

8) When replacing any component, be sure any green ground wires are connected securely in their
original position to avoid danger of shock or short circuit.

9) Before connecting the power supply, make sure no uninstalling wires or terminals are touching the
cabinet. Electrical wiring and all grounds must be correctly reconnected and secured away from
sharp edges, components and moving parts. All panel and covers etc. should be reinstalled before
the Washing machine is plugged in.

10) The line cord must be plugged into a grounded, three-pin plug. Never cut or remove the third
(ground) or top pin from the power cord plug.

11) Do not substitute ordinary wire for any internal wiring of Washing machine. The wire must be able
to carry heavy current and can be subjected to heat. It is very important that all connection is
tight and secure.

12) Make an insulation test, after the Washing machine is repaired, to protect the customer from
being exposed to shock hazards. (Value to be not less than 1M)

Installation of washing machine
Proper installation of a washing machine is important to washing machine's operation. So please
read and do as stated to ensure correct installation.

Choosing the right location

Install the Godrej Washing Machine on an even surface.
An unstable location
❑ Can be dangerous since vibrations may cause the machine to
move.
❑ Can create noise as the machine may vibrate.

The front one leg can be adjusted so that the machine is on level
with the ground.
❑ After loosening the adjusting nut, adjust the leg to the
correct height by turning it. Then tighten the adjusting nut
securely.

❑ If the leg height is difficult to adjust because of an extreme

uneven floor, place a board underneath and bring it to a
level position.

❑ To check whether machine is in level, use a weight attached

to a string. The distance between the string and machine
should be the same from top to bottom.

❑ Keep a distance of at least 5 cm between the sides and rear of

the machine and the nearest wall. This will reduce noise while
operating the machine.

Do not place your machine in an area with high humidity or direct

exposure to sunlight or rain.
This can
❑ result in damaged insulation or rusting
❑ Cause deformation or discoloration of plastic parts.

Ensure proper earthing

❑ Washing machine has a three-core 5A flexible cord. Make
sure that electrical connections and earthing are done
properly to avoid electrical shocks.
❑ Connect washing machine to an exclusive 3 pin wall socket
having a separate fuse of 5 A of 1 ph.220-240volts, 50Hz.,
with phase on right hand side and proper earthing.

Installation of washing machine

Installing the rat guard

Tilt the washer on one side & match the outline of the Rat Mesh with the bottom front side of the
machine as shown in Fig. 1.

Fig.1 Fig.2

Insert the Rat Mesh as shown in Fig. 2 & screw it to the base as shown in the picture.

Installing the drainage hose

❑ Insert the drainage hose in as far as it will go, then the secure it
tightly with the hose clamp. An improperly secured hose may leak.
❑ While attaching the drainage hose to a wash pan, level a gap
between the end of the hose and the adjacent surface. If the flat end
of the hose comes in contact with a flat surface, drainage will be
affected.
Caution: If the drainage hose is not installed properly, washing
machine may not function well, and the overflow prevention
mechanism may cause the machine to stop in mid-cycle.
❑ While inserting the drainage hose in to a wash pan or drain pipe,
move the hook for easier installation.
❑ Move the hook back to its initial position before placing it in the slot
provided on the side of machine.
❑ Make sure the drainage hose is not too high; otherwise it may not
drain properly.
Caution: If the drainage hose is kept level with the ground, the length
of the drainage hose can be extended up to 3 meter.

Installation of washing machine

Attaching the water supply hose to the tap and washing machine

❑ Pull the sleeve down with your fingers as you lower the
entire hose to disconnect the union.

❑ Loosen four screws on the hose union and the fit the union
exactly over the mouth of the tap.
❑ Tighten the four screws evenly around the tap.

❑ Remove the seal from the union and turn the nozzle to
tighten securely. (if the tap is large, secure or oddly shaped,
remove the inside ring to facilitate attachment)

❑ Grip the ring with your hand and pull it down, and then
insert the nozzle. Separate the sleeve until you hear a click,
and then push it back.

❑ After installation, check to ensure that the union does not

come off while pulling down. Next, conform that the union is
properly installed by turning the water on and checking for
leakage. If you see any leakage, adjust the section where
there is a leakage.

❑ A secure water connection for your automatic will help you to use the Memory Backup
feature of your washing machine

Connecting the water supply hose to washing machine

• Turn the water intake hose nut clockwise and tighten it on the
end of the water supply hose securing it to the water intake
hose.

• Tighten further by turning the water supply hose and water

Intake valve in the direction of the arrow as shown.

• Hold the hose nut firmly. Turn the water supply hose back
again only in the direction of the arrow as shown.

Basic operations of washing:
The Godrej fully automatic washing machine has got multiple programs provided for the varying needs
of the user. Functions and purpose of various basic operations is given below:
1) Initial Fill -
The functions involve getting water into the tub of the washing machine before it starts washing.
During this time the water level sensor continuously senses the water level and the feed valve is
energised. Once the water level in the tub reaches the selected level the sensor gives the signal to
the control card and gets closed. Water level sensor is always active only intake valve gets closed.
2) Wash Cycle -
During this operation the machine-washes the clothes by rubbing caused by relative motion. The
function is created by turbulence in the wash tub and roll over of the clothes. This also in turn dissolves
the detergent and wets the fabric. The function is done by means of a pulsator.
At the end of the wash cycle the quick reversal program runs for a short period to evenly distribute
the clothes in the tub. This process is called loosening process.
3) Drain -
This function is to drain out the water from the tub after wash or before spinning. In this process soil
removed from the fabric is taken out with the wash water. A geared motor is used for opening the
valves. The main operations performed by geared motor are:
• It opens the drain valve by applying force against the spring tension enabling the water to drain
out of the machine through the drain hose.
• Releases the brake applied on the basket during washing.
• Enables the basket to spin along with the pulsator during the spin mode as a single unit.
4) Intermittent Spin -
The function is to ensure that water is completely drained out of the tub before it goes to spin mode.
(In this mode motor spins intermittently with possess before reaching the maximum speed of 660
RPM. The intermittent spin also prevents wrinkling of clothes by evenly distributing wash load for
spinning.) This cycle is only in regular and heavy.
5) Spin -
The function is to remove the remaining soapy water from the wet clothes. The power is supplied to
the motor continuously. The basket and the pulsator rotate at a constant speed of app.660 RPM.
6) Rinse -
The water gets filled after the spin and the earlier washed clothes will get rinsed during this process.
The operation is similar to wash without detergent but for a very short period. During this time
additional soil may be removed from the fabric and it removes the traces of detergent from the washed
clothes. Here also loosening process takes place.
7) Drain -
The operation is similar to the drain mechanism explained earlier. During this time water used for
rinsing the clothes are removed from the tub before going to spin mode.
8) Intermittent Spin -
The operation is similar to the explained earlier.
9) Spin -
The operation is similar to the explained earlier.
10) Rinse 2 -
The process and the purpose are the same as the earlier rinse.
11) Final spin -
The function is to remove additional water from the clothes and thereby dry them. The duration
depends on the program selected.
12) Buzzer -
After completion of the wash program a buzzer is activated. Display will show 00 & washing machine
shut off automatically.
This indicates the customer the completion of the selected wash cycle.
