Leveling of "T" Yoke Guide on

DL-16, DL-19, DL-20, DL-22, DL-24, DL-26, DL-40 Engines
Sa91-06

The "T" yoke type valve operating mechanism

requires that the correct level is constantly
maintained between the two valves. This can be
achieved by regularly inspecting and securing the
lock nut as explained in detail in the engine
instruction book.

Below are a few tips to help you whenever you

carry out maintenance work on the intake and
exhaust valves.

Adjusting Procedure

a. Loosen the lock nut and unscrew the

adjusting screw Πby more than one full turn.

b. Make sure you get good contact at point B.

c. Press the "T" yoke with your fingers while

Figure 1 screwing the adjusting screw Πslowly by hand.
Stop when it becomes hard to do so by hand.
For a more detailed description please refer
to your instruction book SEC.7 - SHEET 11. This should give you adequate adjustment of the
"T" yoke sitting on the valves. Should you
require further and more accurate levelling you
can do so by using a dial gauge (figure 1).

d. The lock nut of the adjusting screw Πmust be securely tightened after
adjustment. Therefore, tighten the lock nut Ž and make sure you do NOT rotate the
adjusting screw Πwhile doing so.

DAIHATSU recommends that the adjustment of the "T" yoke mechanism is inspected
every 2000 hours of operation.
