DBW (grams) = Birth weight (grams) + (age in months x 600)

If birth weight is unknown, use 3,000 grams
DIETARY CALCULATIONS TER/day (kcal) = DBW x 95 kcal/kg

Example: 4 months old infant

FIRST 6 MONTHS DBW (grams) = 3,000 + (4 x 600)
= 3,000 + 2,400
= 5,400 grams or 5.4 kgs

TER/day (kcal) = 5.4 kg (DBW) x 95 kcal/kg
