1º ESO PH3 SPEAKING ASSESSMENT - BEST FRIENDS

FORMATIVE TASK

Criterion C: Speaking - Capable level

At the end of the capable level, students should be able to:

i. Use a wide range of vocabulary


ii. Use a wide range of grammatical structures generally accurately
iii. Use clear pronunciation and intonation in a comprehensible manner
iv. Communicate all the information clearly and effectively

Please do the activities in the numbered order:

1.Analyse the image above and brainstorm ideas about it. Start wondering what is happening, why they are
together, how they became friends, where she is taking the giraffe, etc…

2. Read the Story Starter and the questions set out it ‘Question Time!’ to guide you in preparing a short 1-2
minute video about the situation portrayed by the image. Don’t forget to use varied language including
adjectives and other relevant vocabulary you have learnt.

3.Record your video (NO MORE THAN 2 MINUTES) and upload it to your Canvas Assignment (unit 1). It is
due on Monday 30th at 9.00 am.

4.I want to see your faces in the video. DO NOT READ AND DO NOT LEARN ALL THE TEXT BY HEART.
TRY TO BE AS NATURAL AS POSSIBLE. Do not edit the video with many cuts in it. You must try and do it in
one go. You can use any app that you like and you can include green screen functionality and props, but
remember to show your face at all times .
Story starter!

→ They had always been together, for as long as he could remember. They had always been the best of
friends. She had taught him everything he knew, relentlessly preparing him for life in the outside world.

This was the moment they had both been waiting for...

Question time!

→ How did their friendship start? Where do you think they met? Why have they become such close
friends?

→ What do you think the girl has taught the giraffe? What has she been preparing him for?

→ Where do you think she is leading him?

→ How do you think they are both feeling?
