Key Concepts

The hand is one of the most symbolized parts of the human body. It is often used
to depict skill, action and purpose. Through our hands, we may learn, create and accomplish.
Hence, the hand in this learning resource signifies that you as a learner is capable and
empowered to successfully achieve the relevant competencies and skills at your own pace
and time. Your academic success lies in your own hands!

This learning activities/materials was designed to provide you with fun and
meaningful opportunities for guided and independent learning at your own pace and time.
You will be enabled to process the contents of the learning resource while being an active
learner. Further, this also aims to help learners acquire the needed 21st century skills
especially the 5 Cs, namely: Communication, Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking, and
Character while taking into consideration their needs and circumstances.

ACTIVITY 3

CREATE YOUR OWN PUPPETS!


WHAT TO DO? WHAT DO YOU NEED?
1. Present your puppets by performing 1. Construction paper

6. Thin cloth or tissue paper to
clean your “screen”
A. Build your “stage”. To begin, cut out the bottom of your
cardboard box but leave about inch or more border around the
edges. Fasten your “screen” onto the frame with tape or glue
so it covers the entire hole you’ve just cut.
B. Draw and design your puppets using your construction paper,
it should be thick enough that the light won’t shine through
it. To add details, cut out the eyes or mouth of your character
in the middle.
C. Cut out your puppets, and as noted above, add in details by
cutting out the details of the face and by using other materials,
be as creative as you can!
D. Attach barbeque sticks to your puppet by using tape behind.
Make sure you don’t cover the holes for your details.
E. Set up your stage and don’t forget to put your light design
source behind.
F. Get ready for your show. Make sure the lights are off so the
focus is on your stage and puppets. Have fun!
