ASSIGNMENGT- I
1. Prove that 42𝑛 + 10𝑛 − 1 divisible by 25. (Hint: use Binomial
theorem by taking 𝑎 = 5, 𝑏 = 1).
2. Prove that if 𝑝 and 𝑞 are primes such that 𝑝 + 𝑞 = 3, then
𝑝 = 5.
3. Find the GCD of 𝑎 + 𝑏 and 𝑎2 − 𝑏 2 where 𝑎 > 𝑏.
4. Prove that any two consecutive integers are relatively prime.
5. Find the positive factors of 60.
6. A person bought some 12 Rs. Pens and 15 Rs. Pens. The
shopkeeper told him that the total cost was 550 Rs. Is that
possible? If it is possible then find the number of 12 Rs. Pen
and 15 Rs. Pen that he bought?
7. Find the remainder when 1653 is divided by 7.
