to be included in E- Portfolio
(revised on Aug 2022)
My Learning Goals Refine Learning Goals as needed: E.g. to work on my marketing skills.
3. Pick up phrases in Korean that would be useful during my Korea trip in 2024
My project will help me cultivate these TP Student Profile attributes (choose at least three)
☒Self-directed ☐Problem solving ☐Character & citizenship
☒Resilient ☐Digital & information literate ☐Leadership
☒Competent ☐Innovative & entrepreneurial ☐Communicative & collaborative
Give reasons how you can develop each of these chosen attributes
Attribute 1 (Self-directed):
I can develop the attribute of self-directed learning by sourcing Korean language
learning resources such as textbooks and workbooks for my own self-study. It would
also encourage me to keep track of my own development by making Quizlet flashcards
to gauge my level of language learning and retention. In addition, I would need to look
for reliable sources to learn about the background and significance of the various
traditional meals in Korea.
Attribute 2 (Resilient):
Learning a new language can be really challenging, which would cause a lot of people to
fall into a slump at some point. Similarly, trying to make new Korean dishes may also be
challenging as the end product might not always end up being exactly what I wanted or
hoped for which may feel demotivating. Thus, it is important for me to be resilient by
finding solutions to overcome these challenges in order to complete this project.
Attribute 3 (Competent):
As I plan to study new words and phrases every week, I aim to be competent in
speaking basic Korean at the end of the project. I will also be studying Hangul (Korean
letters) to be able to read Korean words.

(if applicable):
The first challenge I might run into and have to go beyond for my learning endeavour is
a lack of motivation. It can be really difficult to learn a new language, which could make
me lose motivation. But I would try to get past this obstacle by reminding myself of the
original reason I picked this topic for my learning project—that is, to travel to South
Korea and be able to navigate the country or city with ease by being able to read signs
and even ask for directions or assistance without too much difficulty.
Another potential obstacle that I might encounter while working on my learning project
is that not every recipe I attempt will turn out well. I have not cooked many Korean
dishes before, so the results might not always be ideal. I can, however, get over this by
reflecting on what went wrong and experimenting with new recipes or attempting to
cook the food several times until I get the hang of it.
