I. OBJECTIVES At the end of the lesson learners are expected to:

a. Round the numbers to the nearest thousand

and ten thousand

b. Identify ways in rounding the numbers to the

nearest thousand and ten thousand

c. Recognize the importance of rounding the

numbers to the nearest thousand and ten
thousand in real life situation.

A. Content Standards
● The learners demonstrate understanding of
whole numbers up to 100 000.

B. Performance Standards
● The learner is able to recognize and represent
whole numbers up to 100 000 in various forms
and context.

C. Most Essential Learning

● Round numbers to the nearest thousand and
Competencies(MELC)
ten thousand

D. Enabling Competencies

IV. PROCEDURES

A. Introduction
● The learners will do the walkthrough of the
lesson expectations.

● In this part, the content of the lesson will be

presented.

● The learning objectives will also be introduced

to make the learners aware of what are being
expected in this lesson.

● As springboard to the next lesson, let the

learners recall the previous lesson about
identifying the place value by looking back on
Learning Task 4 and Learning Task 5 on page
8.

B. Development
● Let the learners observe and understand the
pattern or rule when to be rounded up and
rounded down the numbers.

● Let them look at the value of the digit to the

right of the digit to be rounded up or rounded
down. Let them see if the digit on the right is
equal to or greater than 5, increase the digit by
1, if the digit is less than 5, retain the digit as it
is. Then replace every digit to its right by
zeroes.

● The learner will discover the pattern on how to

round off numbers to a given place value.

C. Engagement
● Ask the learners to do the application of
concepts and skills by answering Learning
Task 6, Learning Task 7 and Learning Task 8
on page 14.

● For additional task, let the leaners answer the

Activity Sheet.

D. Assimilation
● Let the learners formulate the concepts learned
based on the learning tasks and illustrative
examples provided.

● Let them answer Learning Task 9 on page 15.

● Allow learners to think of what personal activity

can this learned concept and skills be applied.

V. REFLECTION
● The learners will write in their notebook the
personal insights gained about the lesson
using the prompts below.
