Micro Motion 4200 Coriolis Flow Transmitter:
Advantages

Advantages of Coriolis Technology:

• Direct mass measurement, high accuracy, wide turndown
• Direct liquid density measurement
• No moving parts, no maintenance
• Multi-variable measurement
• Easy installation and start-up
• No flow conditioning or straight run piping required
• Bidirectional measurement

Advantages of 2-wire Coriolis:

• Eliminates cost by using the existing wiring and without the need to install additional wiring, scaffolding, conduit, AC
panels, and transformers
• Improves reliability by providing an accurate mass flow and density measurement
• Lowers CAPEX by reducing detailed engineering, planning, and installation labor cost

• Plugged impulse lines often lead • Accurately measure mass Reduce shutdowns due to
to unplanned shutdowns flowrate and density impulse line plugging

• Plant efficiency was reduced • Remove impulse lines and

Micro Motion 4200 Coriolis Flow Transmitter:
Theory

1• During a no flow condition, flow

tubes vibrate in phase with each
other.
2• With flow, Coriolis forces are
induced causing the flow tubes to
twist in opposition to each other.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the accuracy the same when using the 4200?

• The accuracy is sensor dependent
• Standard Elite Series accuracy is 0.10% on liquid, and 0.25% on gas
• Enhanced and custom calibrations not currently available

How much I/O does the 4200 have?

• The 4200 has 2 channels of I/O. Channel A is 4-20mA + HART. Channel B is
configurable to 4-20mA, Pulse, or Discrete Output

How much memory does the 4200 have?

• The 4200’s on-board data historian simultaneously captures:
– 14 days of 5-minute averaged data
– 2 days of 10-second averaged data

What is the minimum voltage required for the 4200?

• The minimum “lift-off” voltage required is 17.5V, with an additional 1V to power the
backlight
Micro Motion 4200 Coriolis Flow Transmitter:
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a field communicator to configure the 4200?
• The 4200 is fully configurable using only the local operator interface
• The 4200 can be connected ProLink, AMS, or TREX communicator

Does the 4200 have Meter Verification?

• The 4200 has on-board Smart Meter Verification Basic and Zero Verification
• The 4200 must be blocked in to perform Smart Meter Verification
• It is recommended that a baseline SMV be run/stored once installed when using the
4200 transmitter

Are there applications where you don’t suggest a 2-Wire Meter?

• Continuous, multi-phase applications
• Large line sizes (6” and above)
• Densities over 1.4g/cc, viscosities over 500cP, and velocities over 0.2 Mach

Can I use the 4200 on an existing sensor?

• Most sensors with an existing 2200S transmitter are compatible
• Most sensors with a ‘9-wire’ configuration are compatible (CMF350 or smaller)
• Field or factory recalibrations are recommended
