Lesson 1.

1: Patterns and Numbers in Nature in the World

(Golden Ratio and Fibonacci Sequence)

NAME: Pamela Grace B. Tañalas (BSEd English 1-A)

ASSESSMENT

Look around you, find at least 5 images which possess the properties of a Golden Ratio and Fibonacci
numbers:

1. Piano Keys – There are 13 notes in the span of any note through its
octave. It is composed of 8 white keys and 5 black keys (that is split into 2
and 3 groups)

2. Stradivarius Violin – the subdivisions of the violin, from the tip to the
upper bout of the violin, meets the 1.6 ratio.

3. Cat sleeping – this cat sleeping like being curled in a ball is a perfect
example of the golden ratio. As the cats like this position is because this
helps them in retaining body heat and helps them in protecting their body
organs.
4. Hand – In our body, we have 2 hands. In each hand has 5
fingers, and 8 of our fingers is composed of 3 sections of the bones.

5. Human Ear – the human ear is also an example of the golden

ratio. As to how it processes the sounds that we hear.

YOUR EXPERIENCES: Write your experiences in understanding the concepts and activity.

It is very fun to know that almost all around us, that we can find in nature is somewhat connected to the
golden ratio and the Fibonacci Sequence. Even though it is in nature, we sometimes do not think that
there is a mathematical computation that is also being used there.

YOUR REFLECTIONS: What difficulty, if there is, did you encounter in performing the activity? How did
you overcome them?

It is just difficult to understand the things that are not used as spiral. As I cannot understand where the
center of the picture is being used to identify the origin of the golden ratio. I just tried my best to watch
YouTube video clips to try and understand how it works.
