1.0 PURPOSE:

It has come to DART’s attention that it may be difficult to install the D2690-11 Lanyard onto the D5494-041
Front Step Leg because the 00.250 attachment hole is too small for the lanyard to go through. For D350-591-
411/-412 at CHG 001, it is acceptable to enlarge the hole per Section 2.0 of this Service Instruction. This
modification has been incorporated into D350-591-411/-412 at CHG-002 and subsequent.

2.0 PROCEDURE fD350-591 -411/412 AT CHG 001):

It is acceptable to increase the lanyard hole diameter from 00.250 to 00.312 per the following instructions:

1. Open 00.250 holes in the D5494-041/-042 Step Leg Assy to 00.312 as shown in Figure 1 of this
Service Instruction.
2. Deburr holes, remove any debris and touch up the affected area using chemical film (Alodine1200
or 1201) per MIL-DTL-5541.
3. Install Lanyard per Section 3.7.8 of D350-591.

3.0 DOCUMENTATION UPDATE FOR D350-591-411/-412 AT CHG 002 AND LATER:

Installation Instruction D350-591 Rev. I and Instruction for Continued Airworthiness ICA-D350-591 Rev. 6 are
revised as follows.

D350-591 (Section 3.7.8)

IS:

With the D5491-041/-042 Step Assembly in open position, attach the D2690-11 Lanyard to the D5491-041/-
042 Step Assembly using 1x MS27039-1-10 Screw and 2x NAS1149D0332J Washers per Figure 21. Ensure
that D2690-11 Lanyard is clamped between the NASI 149D0332J Washers. Thread the lanyard through the
“00.312” hole in the D5494-041 Front Step Leg Assembly and attach it using lx MS27039-1-07 Screw, 3x
NASI 149D0332J Washers and lx MS21042L3 Nut. Ensure that D2690-11 Lanyard is clamped between the
NASI 149D0332J Washers per Figure 21, Section A-A

WAS:

With the D5491-041/-042 Step Assembly in open position, attach the D2690-11 Lanyard to the D5491-041/-
042 Step Assembly using lx MS27039-1-10 Screw and 2x NAS1149D0332J Washers per Figure 21. Ensure
that D2690-11 Lanyard is clamped between the NAS1149D0332J Washers. Thread the lanyard through the
“00.250” hole in the D5494-041 Front Step Leg Assembly and attach it using lx MS27039-1-07 Screw, 3x
NAS1149D0332J Washers and lx MS21042L3 Nut. Ensure that D2690-11 Lanyard is clamped between the
NASI 149D0332J Washers per Figure 21, Section A-A.

ICA-D350-591 (Section 32.9.7)

IS:

With the D5491-041/-042 Step Assembly in open position, ensure the D2690-11 Lanyard is attached to the
D5491-041/-042 Step Assembly using lx MS27039-1-10 Screw and 2x NASI 149D0332J Washers per Figure
32-33. Ensure that D2690-11 Lanyard is clamped between the NASI 149D0332J Washers. Thread the lanyard
through the “00.312” hole in the D5494-041 Front Step Leg Assembly and attach it using lx MS27039-1-07
Screw, 3x NASI 149D0332J Washers and lx MS21042L3 Nut. Ensure that D2690-11 Lanyard is clamped
between the NASI 149D0332J Washers per Figure 32-33, Section A-A.

WAS:
With the D5491-041/-042 Step Assembly in open position, ensure the D2690-11 Lanyard is attached to the
D5491-041/-042 Step Assembly using lx MS27039-1-10 Screw and 2x NAS1149D0332J Washers per Figure
32-33. Ensure that D2690-11 Lanyard is clamped between the NASI 149D0332J Washers. Thread the lanyard
through the “00.250” hole in the D5494-041 Front Step Leg Assembly and attach it using lx MS27039-1-07
Screw, 3x NASI 149D0332J Washers and lx MS21042L3 Nut. Ensure that D2690-11 Lanyard is clamped
between the NASI 149D0332J Washers per Figure 32-33, Section A-A.

4.0 WEIGHT AND BALANCE:

There is a negligible weight change associated with this modification.
