What I Have Learned


RACKET
A racket is a piece of sports equipment that

consists of a handled frame and an open hoop

with closely formed strings. These rackets are

usually used to smash a ball or shuttlecock in

sports like badminton and tennis. When used, a

badminton racket must be light, weighing less

than 100 grams.

What I Have Learned


NET
The Badminton Net is the most important part of

a game of badminton, since it requires players

to return the shuttlecock from one side of the

court to the other during the game. Except when

singles games are played, badminton nets cover

the entire 20' (6.1 m) width of the court and are

positioned over the doubles sidelines.

What I Have Learned

BADMINTON UNIFORM
A pair of lightweight shorts and a cotton or dri-

fit t-shirt is sufficient for casual to non-

competitive players. Hand braces, wrist wraps,

and ankle guards can be beneficial to certain

athletes.

What I Have Learned

SHUTTLECOCK
Most people refer to the badminton shuttlecock

as the badminton birdies or bird. It's the ball

that players use to hit back and forth around a

net. The shuttlecock, also known as a birdie, has

a conical shape with overlapping feathers that

lead to a cork base. Nylon or plastic can be

used in place of the feathers.

What I Have Learned

BADMINTON COURT
When playing doubles, the badminton court

should be 44 feet long by 22 feet high, and 44

feet long by 17 feet wide when playing singles. If

the building is indoors, the shuttlecock must

have enough height to travel around the net

without colliding with the roof. This height can

vary based on the players' abilities.
