    Overpopulation, lack of driver discipline, and poor infrastructure are causing traffic jams in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. As more people move to the city for work and education opportunities, the population has increased but the roads have not expanded to accommodate more vehicles. Many drivers disobey traffic laws by changing lanes abruptly, running red lights, and drunk driving, disrupting traffic flow. Additionally, lack of enforcement of driver licensing and vehicle regulations has contributed to unsafe driving behaviors. Some roads are too narrow or damaged, especially during rainy season, further complicating traffic conditions. The government must take actions such as stricter laws and improved infrastructure to alleviate the serious traffic issues faced in Phnom Penh.

    Traffic Jam in Phnom Penh

    What cause the traffic in Phnom Penh city tense to be so busy? The

    traffic in Phnom Penh become more complicated due to many reasons

    and it’s been discussed and asked by the citizens who live in this city. In

    this essay, we will provide some of the reasons that cause traffic jam

    here in Phnom Penh city.

    Over population is one of the reasons that causes traffic jam in this

    city. As we all know, more and more people had been moved into Phnom

    Penh from years to years due to many reasons such as works or to

    continue their study at the university because in the city there are more

    jobs available and more opportunity to study in the university with

    plenty of majors and colleges. However, over population is not the only

    reason, lack of discipline of drivers is also the reason that cause the

    traffic jam. Many drivers include cars and bikes hardly obey the traffic

    laws which it’ll effect traffic flow on the road such as switching lanes,

    run a red light, drunk driving etc. Furthermore, the lack of government

    management on the vehicle driving license which led most of the drivers

    to drive independently and demonstrate on the road, neither they did not

    order a serious driving rule regulation. In spite of that, damage of

    infrastructure can also cause the traffic jams to be disordered and

    complicated. Since some of the roads in the city are not very large and

    some of the roads were damaged due to the lack of technical road

    construction, which make the road seem to be damage more easily in the

    rainy season.

    In conclusion, in Phnom Penh city the causes of traffic jam are

    over population, lack of discipline of drivers, lack of government

    management and infrastructure damage. It has been a serious issues that

    Cambodia has encounter for a while, indeed the government must

    reinforce some rule regulation in order to help reduce the traffic jam here

    in Phnom Penh city.
