Age that was inhabited by
Celtic tribes.
• It includes present
day France, Luxembourg,
Belgium, most
of Switzerland, Northern
Italy, as well as the parts of

of the Rhine.

Merovius (415-458 AD) was
the founder of
the Merovingian dynasty of
the Salian Franks, which later
became the dominant
Frankish tribe. He is said to
be one of several barbarian
warlords and kings that
joined forces with the
Romans against the Huns
under Attila in Gaul.

ruler, changing the form of
leadership from a group of
royal chieftains, to rule by a
