3 Practice: Planning to Pay Practice

College and Career Name: Jenna Yoon
Preparation I Date: 2024-1-30

1. Think about ways Tanya could save on education expenses. Are there
scholarships or grants for which she can apply? If so, which ones? Do her parents
have a savings plan started for her? If not, should they start one? Which one and
why? To what types of schools could she apply that might bring down the cost of
tuition? Explain why. (10 points)

She could try to apply for merit-based aid. Her parents also could make savings for
her even if it’s early. They could still open a $529 plan for her. She could also try to
apply for a community college, and take classes in the school year at breaks to
shorten her college time.
2. What can Tanya do now to start preparing for the college and scholarship
application process? Think about her grades, activities in which she can get
involved, possible part-time jobs at which she can work, and standardized tests
she can take. (10 points)

She can get a part-time job that can help save money for her college. She can also
take Ap classes that can help her get credits for her AP exams that will get her to
college. She could also take ACT and SAT tests for her college.
