1. Describe (5 points)

This is a portrait of a merchant of some sort he has the tools of a merchant


such as a pen,scissors ,money. he is writing a letter to someone
the attire he is wearing is Renaissance era

2. Identify (5 points)
Aside from the information given, how can you tell that this painting is from the
Northern Renaissance?
This piece uses advanced oil painting techniques as well as expressive altarpiece
art style and realistic details. A clue is also the lack of stone base furniture which
is not common in the northern Renaissance era

3. Interpret (5 points)
By looking at the title of the painting, his manner of dress, and the objects that
surround him, what can you infer or figure out about Georg Gisze?
Just from observation this gentleman is a merchant or trader who is in the
middle of writing a letter to someone. he could also be a bit of a craftsman

4. Judge (5 points)
I found the colors the artist used create a nice down to earth color feeling
I think the artist could have put more items to infer to the merchants past.
Overall i enjoy Portrait of the Merchant Georg Gisze.
