ASSESSMENT
Direction: Describe the situation of the following aspects in society in the Philippines
during the Spanish Regime.

Aspects in Society Situation in the Philippines During the Spanish Regime

1. Labor Forced labor. Implementing forced labor called for men to work without
pay to shipyard and public works, abandoning their agricultural lands.
Forced labor molded Filipinos to become mere slaves of the Spaniards by
not allowing them to conduct their own business.
2. Taxes Extremely High Taxes. The Spanish government imposed from doing
extremely high taxes, which led to the discouragement of many Filipinos
trade, business, and agriculture and kept the poor native even poorer. Also,
not providing support to farmers caused econmienderos to disregard their
belief.
3. Justice Lack of Government Protection Against Pirates. Natives were not able to
receive protection from the Spanish government in the pursuit of trade.
Hence, trades were attacked by pirates and were defenseless, leaving trade
behind because of bankruptcy caused by invaders.
4. Religion Wrong Religious Belief. Friars manipulated the natives by claiming that
heaven was easier to enter when one was poor, thus, discouraging them from
working hard enough to uplift their status.
5. Education Twisted Education System. Natives got limited education and were treated
inferior to the Spaniards. Educational system was full of racism, separating
Filipinos from Spaniards and providing them with low quality education,
which focused only in religion and not on technical aspect, like agriculture
or industry. Hence education was not vital to economic growth but was
attached to the church’s dogma.

1. Labor Everyone can labor, man or woman is equal as long they can and have an
enough income although not all because of current situation, and also
everyone allowed to conduct and build their own business.
2. Taxes Has a protocol to pay taxes in enough payment base on their income.
3. Justice Government gives the justice for all, to be in equal, they make the law in
order the people to be protected and secured and also give justice for those
who deserve although not all the time but at least not just like before that
there is no justice at all.
4. Religion People has their different religion and let them choose their religion and
respect their beliefs.
5. Education Everyone has the right to study and enter in schools and has a free
education.

As a future professional someday, how important is your commitment, character and
competence at work in your future career despite any prevailing unpleasant situation?

As a future professional someday, commitment, character and competence are

important at work in your future career despite any prevailing unpleasant situation,
Commitment is essential for leaders because it ignites the fire in their followers and in the
organization as a whole. Without commitment, an organization won't be successful because
everyone will just do the bare minimum to get by without putting in the extra effort necessary
to succeed. Character is important, everyone must have a character to be respected, be
humble and patient, it is fundamental to effective leadership because good character builds
trust, and with trust people will trust you too. And competence allows individuals to continue
to learn throughout their career, to develop their technical skills, and to keep pace with
accountancy changes and innovations. Those things make u stronger and eager to continue
and pursue your dreams to become true, every one of us wants to be successful someday and
through this we can achieve our goals at the same time we use and apply at these at work in
the future career despite any prevailing unpleasant situation.
